This is a great trail if you’re looking for something that’s easy terrain, easy for dog feet, and consistently shaded. It’s a relatively flat trail that follows a canal through a pretty, wooded area. My husband and I, and our two dogs, did about 6 miles total, 3 in and 3 back out. The canal is actually pretty neat and varies in design throughout the walk. You can also see how it serves as a sort of unofficial moat for properties in the area. It seemed like a lot of locals use this trail for daily walks, so we saw quite a few friendly people with their families and/or pets, as well as a few mountain bikers. Everyone was polite. As a warning, if you type the trail into Google Maps it takes you to a cul de sac of private homes. If you use the link in the app for directions it takes you to the actual trailhead. We parked at a different parking spot about half a mile from the trailhead and used an entrance that starts on private property (with a gate and signage indicating that it’s private but ok to start the hike there). If you start at the gate instead of the actual trailhead, there will be an option to take a trail off of the canal route very early on in the hike and that takes you down to the trailhead. Don’t do this if you’re trying to do the canal hike because then you just have to come back up. Just keep following the canal and ignore the offshoot trails (unless you want to add that in of course).

We have done this nice easy trail a week ago with our kids 7 and 4yo. Great flat trail all the way along the creek, a lot of shade, not many people. Definitely will come back again.

Love this trail and the views! Got lost trying to take the lower trail and somehow ended up on an actual road Got picked up and dropped off and the end of the trail and walked it back on the higher trail. Still would give this another try and try to stay on the right path. 10/10 recommend!

This was a nice trail. Would rate easy as it is almost entirely flat. Windy and not much sun, so felt very cold the whole time. Lots of people with dogs, bikers, etc on trail today. App said we did 6 miles. You can definitely go further on the path than what’s marked in this trail on here, but I’m not sure where that would lead.

A great trail for hiking, running, dog walking, and young children. Mostly in the shade and easy to navigate since you just follow the canal. There’s a few narrow bridges that you’ll have to cross that run along the canal pipes. A bit chilly since it’s winter and the trail is shaded, so you’ll probably want a jacket. Super beautiful and fun!!!

Beautiful trail- wide and shady. Meanders through the Forest along some fence lines. There are no leash required signs posted so I let my dog jog beside me off leash and I met a handful of people with their dogs also off-leash. Zero incline on this walk. Only drawback is there was not a “spectacular” view of the mountain side. You are mostly covered up in a canopy of trees.

My new favorite trail for a very easy walk. Not much of a hike as it’s all flat, but it’s long and relaxing. Along the canal for the entirety of it which is nice. Sometimes busy but sometimes I’m the only one out there. Lots of dogs and perfect for families. Love it!

Great trail to walk, nice and flat and wide. Lots of folks with dogs and bikes. Close to town but feels out of the way as well. The gun range nearby was loud and distracted from the peace of the trail but whaddyagonnado. Overall a lovely walk in the woods along the canal!

Great trail along a canal about half a dozen people walking their dog, and meet up to some mountain bikers. Overall easy trail to run gradual slope easy on the knees. Nice and shady from the tower pines.

Nature trips

Beautiful hike with the family. We had all four kids, ages 2-12 and everyone enjoyed themselves. The smaller legs eventually tire out, as to be expected, but it wasn't difficult to pack them back out. Benches along the way offer resting points and some beautiful views. Bring water and sunscreen!

had a wonderful Sunday hike here and found snow patches throughout, for me there were too many people and it wasn't as far out in nature as I hoped.. but beautiful scenery, well marked and kept trails made for a beautiful short hike.

This is a very nice, and very popular trail, but it is not the Gracie Canal Trail. This is the Cascade Canal Access Trail.
