This trail is the Carlsbad sea wall, and it is extremely popular with local residents. You have the beach on one side and the coast Highway on the other with street parking along the trail. Nice place to walk on a sunny San Diego day, but don't expect to be the only person there.
No better place to watch the sunset.
Legs work out if you stay on the sand
Very nice place to walk. I run along that stretch of beach as well.
The busy, concrete walkway bustled with joggers, speed walkers, families, young couples, and elderly couples. An easy walk with numerous entrances onto the beach and to the street above. A few surfers and paddlers were sighted on the water. Free parking is limited to the streets, but you can pay for parking at the southernmost part of the walk near the power plant. Loads of Pikachus, adorned in festive red and white Santa Claus hats and aquatic Pokemons! ;-)
We love this walk. Ocean is right there and sidewalk is large. Lots of people watching. This is the equivalent of east coast boardwalk walking without the shops.
DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED!! found out the hard way once we were there and had to walk up above on the crowded side walk with our dog, otherwise I'm sure it's a lovely trail wish dogs could enjoy to!
It's a tourist beach walk..and if you want to get caught up in the latest beach fashion pretty lame...
Beautiful California beach walk in Carlsbad.
Did this trail twice in two days, so yeah, I love this trail. It's also a very busy trail. The Sea wall part of the trail down on the beach is awesome, but it's pedestrians only, so the sidewalk up top can become overcrowded.
More of an urban beach experience... go early in the morning before traffic and you can hear the ocean for most of your walk. Always a great spot to catch a sunset!
This beach walk is actually in the quaint Carlsbad Village area, with restaurants, shopping, etc. It's magnificent on a clear day at sunset :)
