Amazing hike up to Carlon Falls on COVID Memorial Day Weekend 2020. From the bridge and parking area we started by hiking a bit downstream on Lower Carlon trail, then hiked back up to start the trek to the falls on Upper Carlon trail. The hike was amazing with much to see and some beautiful hiking along the river. We stopped for lunch on a granite outcropping with a view of the falls. For those a little more adventurous, try scrambling the granite along the river to ascend to the top of the falls. Or just follow the trail up to the top. Either way, GET TO THE TOP! The falls are actually a series of step falls that you can see upstream from the top. For the daring, cross the river at the too by balancing your way across a large tree that has fallen across the river and partially blocks the flow over the falls. Kick off your boots and enjoy the cold water if the river is not raging. Very refreshing. This hike is rated easy and 2.8 miles, but we hiked a good 5 hours up and back.. 8 miles total. Some parts of the trail are moderate to hard. Take lots of water!

Such a fun trail to do with family! Easy to do with kids the first mile but right before hitting the waterfall, you hit a bit of an incline. Other than that, the view is worth it. Lots of shade also. Definitely recommend this trail for scenery. Warning: pack some bug spray because there are lots of mosquitoes at the waterfall and as soon as it gets dark.

Pleasant, mostly flat & easy to walk trail...with a couple spots to climb, getting the heart pumping. I clocked 1.9 miles (one way) on my Apple Watch from trail entrance to the waterfall. Bring a picnic, camera & towel...to enjoy the beauty. Will be doing this little jaunt repeatedly.

Awesome trail! Mostly shaded. GPS said 3.4 miles. Pretty easy trail but rocky right before getting to the waterfalls.. might get wet. It’s beautiful and we enjoyed it very much! Definitely going back! Take bug repellent. Lots of mosquitoes towards the evening. Trail is nice and clear except for a couple of fallen trees but we didn’t mind. Makes it more fun!

This is a great trail. The description says 2.8 miles, however my watch tracked 3.5. Regardless, it gave us a great workout. My 6 year old daughter also did the hike and she did way better than me. Seemed like she jogged through the trail haha. The falls was beautiful & the water was refreshing even though it was ice cold. Would come back over and over again

I had a GREAT time hiking the Carlon Falls Trail with my oldest daughter! 3 1/2 miles, 2 hours, 250 feet elevation gain, a beautiful waterfall, deer, and shade the whole way! Not what I planned to hike, but worth the short walk!

March 22, 2020 This trail is well marked it’s rated easy how ever it had my heart racing during a couple of climbs. It’s March but there’s still some snow on the trail. Some muddy slippery areas due to snow melting & recent rains. There’s a few fallen trees but trail is still easy to follow. The river is full & flowing beautifully. The Carlon fall is a glorious site now that it’s brimming with water!! Overall a wonderful hike!

Easy trail and great for a run. Two short inclines, but skip the second and do some rock scrambling for a more fun adventure.

Really good hike. Beautiful and relaxing. You'll follow the river all the way to the waterfall. There were a few steep hills, nothing crazy, but just be prepared in case you are needing a fairly flat hike. There were also some areas needed to climb on some big rocks to get to the top. Again nothing crazy, and you don't need to climb to the top to enjoy the waterfall. You can see our video of the waterfall at https://youtu.be/Po8KA8HZuDM We will definitely be coming back for this hike soon!

Well marked trail that follows the river through pines and redwoods. Relatively flat and very little snow even in mid-December. Worth a visit!

Absolutely beautiful falls!

Easy enough hike to do with kids ranging from 4+ years old. The little ones had to be carried for some of it. A nice reward at the end. We did it in late Oct, and the falls, while less than majestic, were still well worth the short trek. Room around and above the falls to scamper around. Most of the route was shaded. Saw some fish but didnt have any luck with Trout Magnets or Panther Martins.

Had a great time on the trail today. I'm an amateur and lost the trail a few times but enjoyed every bit. There are bathrooms but on the other side of the bridge/ trail head down a short bit. Fine for kids I'd say 3 and up. There are some rock scrambling parts.

RING LOST! Black Silicone wedding ring was left at the middle waterfall base. If found please email lukew133@gmail.com! Trail was awesome! Rather easy and few people! Worth the trip out and it could be something you make half a day of.

I wish we didnt belive the review that said it was 1.5 miles to the falls. Definitely 2.2 miles to the first pool, and I'm sure 2.8 to the main falls. It was to much for our nearly 5 year old. Had she been a bit older/stronger it would have been great. Mostly really easy with some harder technical stuff at the end.
