Solid hike . It wasn’t as scenic as some other but there are solid views of the reservoir and the city scape below . Incline wasn’t ever super difficult to me , but a nice length of a loop that you can extend if you wish . May return to this trail we will see .

I did the clockwise side of the loop and it started with a steep hill and great views. As I reached mile 2 the first part of the trail ends and you have to walk on the asphalt road for about 10 minutes. Overall really easy hike with good views. There no parking fees and it is highly transited.

Fire road thru the hills... okay run but the offshoots and single trails would be fun on a mountain bike.

Beautiful trail that leads to an old cold war missle site, the site is maintained with public restrooms and you can see the massive radar towers and sonar. Amazing views of the valley and steep cliffs throughout. lots of wildlife including bobcats, mule deer and grey wolves. Take lots of water and hiking sticks if you have them. A must do trail.

Pretty laid back moderate hike. Went counter clockwise on the loop. Trail takes you through this residential area which was kind of confusing but ok. I think it’s a little less steep clockwise if that’s what you are looking for. There are plenty of steep hills you can climb up and down near the end if you are looking into more of a workout/for views of the city. Trail is also very dog friendly!

It’s pretty muddy right now and they unfortunately carved a pretty big fire break recently that eliminated some of the fun little side trails. If you don’t like dogs please don’t hike here- it’s one of the ONLY places where dogs are legally allowed off leash (must still be under voice control and of course scoop and carry out your poop!).

Great views, cool touring around the Nike missile site. Lots of people walking dogs off leash, not cool.

Great hike for a cloudy Fall day. Saw maybe 3 other groups along the trail. No bugs if you keep moving. The Nike missile site is cool too.

We actually ended up not doing the loop but instead went straight out towards the west and back. It’s a very wide trail with plenty of hikers, runners and mountain bikers.

Great neighborhood trail. I started around 6 am and encountered only one other person who was a regular for the trail. Not a lot of shade so wouldn’t recommend it for dogs during the summer heat as the ground also got pretty heated. My pup loved going with me early, though, and was able to be off leash for the whole hike except a small part that goes through a neighborhood street and there is no sidewalk. Recommend going right to left on the trail map!

It was our first time there and we got lost since the correct trail was a bit overgrown with dried grass. It was extremely hot and with almost no shade. My husband had to carry our 73lb dog at one point since the trail got so hot. As he was carrying our exhausted dog, he ended up swallowing a bug while he was at it. Funny but overall it was a stressful situation.

I spotted a mountain lion while hiking this trail today. It was not far from the trail, in the section after you cross over Mandeville Canyon Rd. Keep your doggos close!

Beautiful views! You can see downtown, the ocean and the span of the valley. Very hilly, great hike. Not sure why the Nike loop is labeled as easy and the out and back is labeled as moderate ? Anyways doggie loved it, we’ll go again !
