This is a nice trail but it’s steep you will be out of breath within 5 minutes of starting. Don’t forget you water and maybe the inhaler.

On a clear day you can see the ocean from Torrey Pines up to Solana Beach, and all of the East County mountains to the east from the top. I’ve seen some phenomenal sunsets and watched the hot air balloons take off from the north here. Rabbits, quail, lizards, and numerous hawks and birds live here. During the spring and early summer there is a variety of wildflowers.
The only downside is the proximity to I-15, means at a couple points on the trail, you look directly at the freeway. The views from the west side of the trail make it worthwhile, though. This is a nice quick hike, short enough to do after work if you live in Mira Mesa, Rancho Penasquitos, or Scripps Ranch.

Short hike to some great suburban views.

Short, steep, and exposed. Good exercise with impressive 360 degree views at the top. Lots of I-15 noise for the entire hike. It's a good way to do some vertical hiking in an easily accessible location.
