Hike along the Coastal Trail from the Cliff House at Lands End to the Golden Gate Bridge This section of the California Coastal Trail runs from the Cliff House near the Sutro Baths all the way to the Golden Gate Bridge and passes many landmarks including Baker Beach, the Seacliff area, Marshall Beach, and the Batteries to Bluffs Trail. This area of San Francisco is unknown to so many residents, even though it is one of the most beautiful areas in all of the Bay Area. You will walk along trails on the cliffs above the water where you can watch crashing waves, sailboats, and the occasional surfers, all while having perfect views of the Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands across the bay--it's hard to beat. There are several small detours to small beaches along the trail as well, if you care to take a relaxing break. There are several points along the trail where you can leave the trail or turn back to make the hike shorter.

Narrow and busy even during cover-lots of people without face masks and being idiots taking picture blocking middle of the trail.

First time hiking in SF. Lovely, moderately challenging, used the sand stairs from baker beach and walked all the way down Crissy field.

Parked at Kelly’s Cove Ocean Beach, Land Ends Trail/Coastal Trail and ended up at Bakers Beach! The trail is well maintained, stunning scenic views of the Ocean and Golden Gate Bridge. We also stopped by the Labyrinth and it was absolutely beautiful, peaceful in this area. I’d definitely hike this trail again!

I loved hiking this trail. I started at the Sutro Baths and hiked to the Golden Gate. Absolutely gorgeous the entire way.

Beautiful trail. A bit slippery in actions due to mud, but not difficult.

Spectacular views. Starts in the woods, goes through a neighborhood, ends along the beaches. Well maintained trail with plenty of steps (some optional) for your cardio! I was so pleased to be able to get away from the city and enjoy the ocean vistas. Highlight of my trip.

Good fun with nice views of the bay and the bridge. I started early in the morning so it was still quite foggy. If you want blue sky and sunshine don't start this at 8am. I had a great time!

Nice trail with amazing views of the ggb and sutro baths. A little dirty but that’s sf.

Not exactly what i would call a hike but it’s beautiful sightseeing.

Beautiful, especially when the weather is clear. Recommend waiting until noon or later for fog to roll out. Easy trail, wouldn’t really consider a “hike”. Check out the labyrinth at the outlook if you have time

Great views! We went on a day that was super windy. This trail provides a taste of coastal breeze, upscale neighborhood, and sandy beaches. The plus is free parking!

A great hike that can be done solo or in a group.

As far as scenic views, it was beautiful. There were a lot of picturesque places and views of the water. However, most of the trail isn’t as nature-y as I would’ve liked. There’s a good mile where you’re literally walking on a sidewalk in a rich neighborhood and the next mile is right next to a highway. All in all, pretty trail but I’d like something a bit more rustic for my next hike

Breathtaking views of Marin Headlands, Golden Gate Bridge and a “get some energy out” walk-hike that will leave you satisfied visually and physically.

Very beautiful but crowded on weekends.

Beautiful scenery. Dog friendly. As others have described, it is basically two trails sandwiching a very affluent neighborhood. The first part is very easy. the second portion has a few inclines with stairs. I recommend climbing the sand ladder at Baker beach.

Started at Lands End and just kept going. Beautiful views of the ocean and the Golden Gate Bridge. Recommend that you bring water, snacks, sun screen and a hat. It was cool in the breeze and warm in the sun. Lots of people and bikes as you get closer to the bridge.

Curious urban section in between what is essentially 2 trails. Nice, long walk otherwise.

Hated running through the rich people houses. And cars

This is a great hike! The first portion has quite a bit of traffic, but it thins out the further you go. Great views if you take the 1.8 (rather then the .8) off shoot to the bridge. A lot of stairs on that route, so it kicks up the workout a notch too. If you are a beginner definitely go the .8 route on the road. Loved this hike! We were able to make it ten miles by taking the longer route and one offshoot to a lookout point.

Great views! Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a nice dayhike to Golden Gate Bridge. Started at Lands End, went down to Baker Beach for a while, before picking up the trail again to the bridge. Those stairs ("sand ladder") at Baker's Beach were a doozy.

A truly beautiful hike. It was first hike out here since we moved to the Bay area. It was a great way to explore the nature surronding San Francisco. We took the trail to Bakers Beach and up to the Golden Gate Bridge. We we're pretty wiped so we caught an Uber back to our car.

This hike almost has it all--beautiful ocean views, coastal trails, beaches, trees, and the Golden Gate Bridge. The only thing it's missing for part of the hike is clear directions where to go to continue to the Golden Gate. Once you reach a certain part of the hike you wind up in a wealthy neighborhood with streets signs, but not trail signs. This hike is quite a bit different from most. If you are looking for a serene hike in the middle of nature with only a few hikers and a lot of wildlife you will be disappointed at times. The beginning and end of the trail have a lot of people, and the middle has a lot of houses. But it's well worth hiking at least once or twice. The diversity and many of the views are stunning.
