The trail is primarily used for hiking and fishing and is best used from May until October. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

Directions from Fort Jones: Travel west on County Hwy. 7F01 for approximately 6 miles to the intersection with a second County Hwy. which crosses Meamber Bridge and turns off to the south at Meamber School. Travel for a mile on this road, then head right when it branches. Continue south for about 3 miles for Forest Service Rd 43N21. Follow this road for about 6 miles to Shackleford Campground.
