This trail is a US Forest Service Road that is in good repair (visited during June). There are several different destinations listed on the first sign when entering from highway 89 - Burney Springs and Burney Mountain Lookout included. Burney Springs is about 11 miles in from the highway sign. There are several turns, and unfortunately, idiots have destroyed most of the Forest Service signs that mark the way. We were able to find pieces of the signs, and determine the direction. If you have a map, follow Forest Service Road 26.

Burney Springs is a little pipe poking out of the ground, supplying a small meadow with moisture for greenery. Nice stop to stretch and have a snack.

You can continue following the dirt roads for quite a while. I believe we tracked over 55 miles on dirt all together. We went as west as we could before we hit pavement close to Whitmore. Most of the roads have been scraped recently for logging, but there are some fun extra curricular spurs for a little 4 wheeling fun. Most of the roads did not require 4WD, high clearance helpful.
