NOTE: ALL SAN MATEO COUNTY PARKS ARE CLOSED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE AS PARK RANGERS ARE ASSIGNED TO SUPPORT CZU LIGHTNING COMPLEX FIRE FIGHTING EFFORTS. https://parks.smcgov.org/press-release/all-parks-closed Please note that this trail is currently closed to vehicles due to COVID 19. A nice, historic, and quiet hike through chaparral and coastal biomes . Most likely, you will only encounter a few others. The trail begins on an old ranch road that follows Mills Creek until it reaches a bungalow from the 1930s. The trail then takes you down to cross the creek and get a look at old historic buildings that Burleigh H. Murray constructed during the gold rush. There is also a roman styled stone bridge. Bring Water - None is available in the park. There is a small free gravel parking lot at the trailhead. The trail is open from 8am to sunset.

Parking facilities off of Higgins Purisma Rd and is free. There is a picnic area, interpretative exhibit, and restrooms.

This park is on the San Mateo Coast just about a mile south of the intersection of Highways 1 and 92. Go east off of Highway 1 onto Higgins-Purisima Road and there is a small graveled parking area about a mile and a half into the park.

This is reopened. Its a nice easy fire road for kids out to the historic barn. The employee who lives out there is really nice and offered to let us pick some apples from the 100yr old apple orchard.

Thinking of hiking this trail -- if the lot is full, does anyone know if vehicles are permitted to park on Murray Ranch Road?

The old ranch is cool, but the trail is a two-lane road

Nice, easy walk on short trail to the Mills Barn. Only saw a couple of mountain bikers while on hike, was nice having the trail to myself, very calming and peaceful

Excellent fairly easy bike ride suitable for families, mostly flat, lovely, and interesting sights to see. The old barn was built into the hillside for easier loading of hay which was then dropped through the floor to the cattle below. Take the extra mile or so hike onward from the barn along a lovely trail. Nice restrooms with trash receptacles shortly after the start of the trip and again further on. My wife and I really enjoyed this place. Did Purissima Cemetery and bike ride along the coast nearby afterwards. Not hard to miss the turnout to the parking lot on the left a couple of miles from the main highway.

Uneventful hike my wife and I did on the way to Purisima. I did it once and the only thing really interesting was we went a little off trail to a pump house and found a recent deer kill by a mountain lion. She wasn't impressed! A one and done...

Not much of a trail. It's okay for a short walk.

Not much here. You go up an old ranch road, turn around and come back. There are some benches near the end. This would be more of a destination with an improved trail system. The vegetation does not make this a great place for cross country. If you find yourself in the neighborhood, purisima creek redwoods is a better destination.
