es un muy buen work out, traigan mucha agua y snaks, es muy expuesto,
Awesome. Skyline Mtnway is a single track trail. Very technical and have some rocky sections, narrow sections & a tiny wooden bridge.
This is one of my favorite hikes. I do some stretching before starting - it's not super steep, but it's a constant uphill for 3+ miles, then it levels off and there's very little elevation gain. There's a bench at the top to rest if you need it. Typical time to get to the top is 1:15 and the return down can be done in 40 minutes. It's a fire road, so no single track, but it's just an uphill, so I'm okay. At the top is Verdugo Motorway. A nice bonus is to take it to the left and follow for a couple miles - pretty flat with a few short uphills. When you see the fenced in area with the telephone poles, that's the highest point in the Verdugos. I usually have a snack at the top and take in the views, then I head further down Verdugo Motorway and to the lounge chair right before Anna's Garden (cool place to set as your destination) or you can continue to the single tree on the hill (don't take the single track leading to Anna's Garden if you're going to the single tree, because the down hill is brutal). I follow the fire road to get to the single tree - it's nice there and there are some benches to sit and rest. Another option is to take the single track near the Experimental Forest. There are some steep downhills, so be careful! It takes you to La Tuna Canyon - I then take the fire road back to the top. I've also taken the single track that takes you by the truck/car wreck - it's washed out in places, so be careful. The trail ends up on La Tuna Canyon - I walked on La Tuna for a mile + to get to the trailhead and took the fire road up. On Feb 7, 2021, I went down Whiting Woods fire road - it was my first time on the trail. I watched some mtn bikers doing some awesome jumps - amazing to watch them catch huge air! At the bottom, there's a really nice park, but it was 3:45 pm, so I took a 15 min break and headed up. At the top, I turned left and headed back to Brand Motorway. I caught some great sunset pics and by the time I got to the 1 mile marker, it was dark. At least there aren't any bears in the mountains! I've hiked Brand Motorway 15-20 times in the last few months. A little busy before the split (one side goes to 7 Trees), but wide enough to give everyone space. After the split, I don't see too many people. Most of the people I see are friendly and say hi, which is nice. Great views at the top - on a clear day, I can see Catalina and the water between it and Palos Verdes. I've seen one of the Channel Islands also - far to the right of Catalina. And of course some of the most beautiful views of downtown and great sunsets.
Very little shade, bring lots of water. Fun hike though and the view at the top is stunning. My app shut off half way through on the way back, which is why the recording and timing is messed up. Took us about 2.5 hours total
Fantastic trails, easy to navigate, incline is superb, no complaints at all...
Easy to navigate and flat surface all the way. Go early. No shade at all.
really fun point to point, would probably try to take it the opposite direction if I hike again. Good ratio of shade/sun
Straightforward and a very nice grade — fairly even, steep enough to be challenging all the way up, and not too steep in a way that would kill the knees on the way down. Nice views of the city and hills.
Serene, lovely with beautiful views over Glendale, Burbank and downtown LA. Not crowded.
Tough. Steep. Worth it. Beautiful views of Burbank, Glendale, and LA throughout the hike. I went counter clockwise and I was happy I did it. I went down another way, longer route down but much easier on the knees so if you want a longer but less steep way down, follow my recording :) bring a lot of water!!
