It is a nice trial starts out shaded and dry sand. Than you are able to travel upwards for some nice views.

HikingNo shade

Plenty of shade for the first half but none once you hit Outlook trail. Lots of steep uphill grades, but they’re pretty smooth, not rocky. Some younger kids might be discouraged by the incline but persistent ones will be fine. The payoff is a glimpse of red rock canyon on one side and south Orange County on the other. There’s a big coastal oak for shade and picnic table at the end.

The trail starts off as easy then you go through Mustard trail which is difficult before you get to the moderate trail to Lookout

Hiking

Moderate hike up the hill. There were 4 O.C Parks people weed-whacking the tall yellow weeds. The trail is now clear. Great view of Red Rock Canyon from above.

Hiking

Extremely overgrown vegetation’s, some taller than my eye sight. Feels quite uncomfortable walking it due to wild life. Definitely will not go back till fall till I can see more than 2 feet in front of me!

Hiking

Easy section along the Borrego Trail. Very steep up the Mustard Trail to the overlook (and very windy at the top!). Worth it though for the views. Nice to see a different perspective of the city we live in below. Took us about 2 hours start to finish, with quite a few stops to catch our breath on the Mustard Trail.

Hiking

Leasurely walk in with some muddy stream crossing. Hook a left when you come up to the trail intersection with the map board, it's a bit steep up and then a windy section before taking a right fork and another steep section up to the lookout. Can be done in two hours if you are in shape and don't spend too long at the top. Nice lookout of some snow covered mountains in the distance. Bring a sandwich and enjoy the view!

I took the trail up to the vista lookout and it’s definitely worth it. I saw some deer in the valley there and the view is beautiful. The red rocks are especially red around sunset. It’s very beautiful.

Great trail! Very simple and easy if you just stick to the main trail over to Red Rock Canyon. We decided to do some of Mustard Trail as well. It was a moderate hike with a lot of up hill. Beautiful views and the red rocks were a nice sight to see in Orange County.

Awesome hike, started off easy, became moderate and difficult! Loved the view, and small challenge. Saw a racer snake, did not ruin our day! Loved the hike and view

HikingNo shade

Great little hike! Really easy for the first 1.75 miles or so until you split to the left. At that point, it is no shade and almost straight up. That is really the only difficult part, but the views were gorgeous! There is shade at the top too!
