Bommer Ridge, Slow 'N Easy, El Moro Canyon and No Name Ridge Loop is a 8.6 mile moderately trafficked loop trail located near Newport Coast, California that offers the chance to see wildlife. The trail is rated as moderate and is primarily used for hiking, running, and nature trips.
Pro’s: great for running with minimal rocks, wide trails good for distancing, a few nice ocean views at the end (I went opposite direction than trail route said). Con’s: heavily trafficked on the weekends, not moderate. Rather uninspiring beyond the ocean views. I guess I’m spoiled with all of the other gorgeous trails within an hours drive from here.
It was such a cool hike! I loved the hiking along the ridge and then back up the Moro Trail. Next time, I will park up at the Coastal Peak Park. Ample parking! No regrets. Hiking up Bommer Canyon was nice.
Nice loop with plenty of ups and downs. Run-able unless it’s blazing hot like today midday. Hear plenty of rattles but road is nice and wide. Good shade thru canyon section
Fantastic trail, a few snakes in the high yellow flowers, take the elevator
let me start off by saying this is not 8.5 miles, but closer to 11.5 miles. By the time we got down to the crystal cove parking lot we had already hit 5 miles. The view was great going down especially now that everything is so green. but remember every step you take going down, you must take going back up. that being said if you have weak knees the climb on the way back up will get ya.
Would have been a 5 star hike because it was really nice and foggy at the beginning, but the route here goes DOWN "Elevator," a VERY steep section of trail that I nearly broke my ankle getting down. Slow and Easy is a slightly longer section that would put a notch type shape in the most eastern side of the loop. Other than that, I do love the little bit of oak tree shade through the center section of El Morro Canyon trail...pretty much the ONLY bit of shade on the whole hike.
