Spectacularly beautiful. Worth the stop at Indian Springs for some great views of the Crags and the Grey Rocks.

Great hike! Definitely pay attention on the way back down off the top, pretty easy to lose the trail.

u cant say u have done castle dome if you havnt climbed to the top overall awesome climb start on some nice slabs up some large ledges once up that go to the right there should be a blue rope climb up it after that traverse the large fin and climb down the small gully facing the summit slabs. now this is where i al.ost turned around id rate it 5.3 just go to the right a bit until u see a nice crach youll know when u see it from there scramble some class 3/4 to the top and there you go. dont belive people who say you need climbing gear for this

HikingBugsGreat!

very easy trail until the last mile to reach the top makes it a moderate trail overall. there's some light scrambling but nothing that would be dangerous. the .4 mile detour to Indian spring was well worth it! good amounts of shade but ensure you bring plenty of h2o

Running

I went on a weekday and had the entire place to myself. Didn’t see another person. Saw a bear within the first mile so that was cool. Plenty of shade on the trail. Trail is easy for the first few miles. Then I gets very rocky (jagged rocks, not loose scramble), but easily manageable if you take your time. Views up top are worth it.

HikingGreat!Scramble

Beautiful and impressive views await you at the top of this tough climb. We started at 9:30 and didn’t escape much of the heat (finished two 2 L bladders and an additional water bottle). Shasta was pretty bare this time of year so the crafts themselves were the most impressive view.

A tiny bit of a rock scramble near the top, but overall a moderate hike. Amazing views as you approach the top!

Great hike the views are amazing! it's important to be patient because the trail starts out with no views but once you get to the top it's wow... take lots of water and you can even fill up at Indian springs keep a look out just in case.

This was a hike I’ve wanted to do for a while. The trail was clear and not too many people were out. A steady incline with the last mile being a light scramble for a stretch of it. A couple of the turns I needed the map because the signs were pretty worn.

Easy to follow, nice hike with beautiful views in the end. Most of the trail is pretty wide so it's easy to have conversations with friends and walk side by side. Did this one in 3.5 hours.
