I grew up camping out in Blair Valley and Little Blair Valley. The Morteros Trail, Marshal South and Pictographs hikes are all amazing. The road is always nicely groomed, I've even seen a Prius or 2 bombing the road.

Easy to moderate hike. The weather is a lot better than Borrego Springs - still high desert, altitude keeps it cooler.

This is one of my favorite spots not just to hike but to STARGAZE. It’s flanked by mountains all around. That keeps away the light pollution from the big cities west and north.

Saw the Perseid meteor showers. Wow! Shooting stars, Milky Way looks best on a no moon night / the night was perfect.

Start early and get a good camp site. Campers - please keep noises down. Nature is for everyone to enjoy. The amazing dark sky, stillness of nature is what we want to enjoy - not your constant ramble.

I took the trail on Sunday and I didn’t see some areas in the pics people took the ones where you drive between the rocks the trails were never that wide and couldn’t find that area and I drove everywhere and didn’t see those spots

Camped in Little Blair valley on the east side of the trail. Several primitive campsites encircle the valley, which gets filled with wildflowers in the spring. Biked the entire route with a buddy; great ride, strenuous at times and some soft sandy sections, but great scenery. Hiked up the indian trail at the southeast end of the loop the next day, its about 3 miles in and back from the trailhead. There are several morteros and Native American petroglyphs on the large rocks in the valley. Heading back it started to rain pretty good, be careful getting out, there are some muddy bits of track on the Big Blair (west loop) side of the range.

Easy dirt trails weaving through a valley in a desert mountain range. There is a lot to do up here and many historic and archaeological goodies to see. The vegetation is still desert, but more lush than in the lower elevations of Anza-Borrego, there are a lot of great views and good campsites.

Well maintained dirt roads with a lot of secluded campsites. Bathrooms at the Blair Valley entrance. Hike all of the trails off the road, you won't be disappointed! Pictographs, Morteros, and Marshal South Home trails are all quick, easy, and well worth the effort.

fun, easy trail. 4x4 not needed. There is a vault restroom at one end.
I liked having a few mini hikes to stop at, like the pictographs. It's at great trail if you're looking to build your off road driving skills.

Great off roading location. We ended up on it by accident on a weekend exploration of various trails. As always with desert trails, make sure you have extra fuel and water. Add a nice hike by locating the Marshall South Trail head that winds up the mountain to Marshall Souths house.
