Super easy and short loop within an hour hike. park at the back walnut trailhead street patking on fullerton rd then walk towards back walnut trailhead but dont just keep going becuz there is steep uphill. watch your left less than a quarter mile after the start point there is a short cut to powder canyon trail. go this way to make uphill much easier and end in steep downhill. not very much shade but becuz it is a short loop, it is fine.

Great, wide trail with steady inclines to get your heart rate moving. Beautiful views.

Excellent beginner-intermediate trail. Dog friendly. A lot of shade during the late afternoon hours. Quiet and scenic. Plenty of green right now thanks to the winter time. Watch out for burglars tho, I’ve heard they frequent this parking lot. 5/5 stars

I would recommend this trail, the trail head has a 1/2 mile all up hill, so if you want to take it easier start at the end first, but nice views and lots of wild flowers right now, did not see any wild life today but signs of mountain Lions so be aware.

Decided to take this trail again but opted to start at the trail end vs the trailhead. Completed hike much faster

A nice 6+ mile hike with many options along the way. The recent rains turned everything green but also made the trail muddy in several places. Not much shade but the hike takes you past some regal black walnut trees.

This trail was great! My boyfriend and I went to the peak of the trail at the beginning and spent some time at the top looking at the view of the mountains that had snow all over them! The city below was beautiful also. On the way down towards powder canyon trail it was lush green and shady. Very nice hike! Will be back to try the grey squirrel trail that we saw as we got closer to Fullerton Rd!

Nice short trail with steep enough inclines for beginners.

I have taken this hike several times. It’s well worth it!!!Just be careful if you park on Fullerton road. I have seen car windows smashed in. Don’t leave anything valuable in the car.

Took our German Shepard on a December Saturday. Perfect for dogs and inexperienced hikers. Saw a few deer and the people we passed saw coyotes. Great views from the top. We parked on the street and started on black walnut trail and looped around to come out on powder canyon. Starts uphill and the rest is easy. Definitely will do again.

It’s nice for a quick hike, first mile is pure uphill and second mile is downhill. I came in the evening around 6 wasn’t too bad and only took about 45 mins.
