As others have mentioned, this is a heavily-used bike trail so keep that in mind. The beach is definitely worth it on a clear day.

We did Coastal trail to black sands beach and Julian trail back just to get a change of scenery. I preferred coastal trail over Julian trail, however. As a hiker, please beware of mountain bikers and horseback riders on Julian trail. The cyclist zoom past you so be sure you’re quick on your toes or you will get hit.

Trailer is not easy.... there is a lot of incline... views of the Bridge not there as the pictures suggest but the beach was really awesome

Get ready to walk almost 2 miles straight downhill on it easy enough grade to come back up but then go uphill a deep steep incline that is washed out to a deep steep decline with rickety stairs made out of wood leading to a beautiful black sand beach granted this is a beautiful view by the time you get to the beach the whole way down is not so much other than Greenhills and I would not suggest doing this in completion with the baby strapped to you my mistake won’t do that again 3 1/2 miles in and I had to get hitchhiked out…
