Note: Road is subject to closure based on wet weather or fire danger by the Forest Service. For more information, please see https://www.fs.usda.gov/detailfull/cleveland/alerts-notices/?cid=stelprdb5340229 Easy shelf road with great views. It's a little tight to pass others. You'll need to reverse route and go back down the way you came in if the gate is closed. This trail offers a nice variety of easy to moderate obstacles. It’s great for beginners practicing picking their line.

Really cool trail. Had a really good time driving up. Lots of flies on the top but other than that awesome

Super good beginner trail. Four wheel drive recommended but definitely not necessary. I drive a 2wd tacoma and have driven the trail many times without issue. Trail is skinny with drops on one side in certain parts but very easy to get through. A vehicle with over a foot of clearance is highly recommended. Check the website to see if gates are open before you go. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/cleveland/recreation/ohv/?cid=stelprdb5340229 have fun and be safe

Medium difficulty. Don’t bring a car without four wheel drive. It can get a little rocky and it’s not groomed. Absolutely loved it though. Recommend driving down during sunset

Beautiful drive to the top. Relaxing spot to hang out and explore with the kids once at top. Dog friendly when leashed. Some AT&T service at the top. The drive up: Very narrow at times with some switchbacks. Trail gets rockier towards the top. Keep an eye out for hikers and mountain bikes. I would recommend only off-road capable vehicles to make this trip up due to the narrow road and potentially having to pull over into loose dirt/rocks and let other vehicles pass. I did observe this scenario with a front drive Highlander which was hung up on a large rock at the side of road.

Very nice mountain trail. Scenic all the way to the top. My opinion is that this is an easy trail even though it is listed as moderate. Never used all 4 and never needed low. Gets a liittle rocky on the last mile or two but nothing to worry about. And yes, very narrow in spots so look for on coming traffic and the wide parts of the road. Take a picnic lunch and enjoy the view from the top! Beautiful!

For me... close to home.... fun for the kids.... mostly dirt.... some rocky parts..... but overall I would say more on the easy side.....great views on a clear day.

We were happy to see this trail open. You can do this without 4x4 but it's still a fun ride with our truck, especially if you're exploring the area. This trail is so much better than the nearby Black Canyon Trail (which is more of a flat dirt road)

Good walk uphill-it was closed to vehicles so it was really pleasant. The very top of the trail (the last half mile or so to the solar array) is currently overgrown but navigable.

For a newbie to off roading this trail was a bit intimidating only because it was only wide enough for one car and right up against the cliff's edge at some points. Otherwise, easy enough to maneuver. Was a bit muddy after the recent rain so 4wd helped a lot. Took us about 30 minutes or so to get to the top. Bumpy but not horribly rocky.

First off road experience with this relatively easy trail. 2014 Jeep JKU Sahara with 35" tires and 2.5" lift - stock fender flares got some mild rubbing. The trail seems fairly well maintained though it's quite narrow throughout most of its length. It was totally empty on a Wednesday. Great views, sunset was incredible. Bugs weren't an issue at all until after the sun went down and even then, they weren't that bad.

Gate was locked, could not proceed the full distance to the top. Nice trail otherwise.
