This was an amazing hike! We stayed at the campground just before the trailhead which was not crowded. It was an incredibly peaceful hike and great to get away from the smoke. Views were awesome and a ton of great photos.

Lots of different features - aspens, granite, lakes, a medium waterfall, a shack. Great little hike at a grueling elevation.

Fun trail with a mild incline through a couple different climate zones with 6 lakes. Trail is very easy to follow. Definitely want to come back to explore farther

So many beautiful lakes and alpine meadows. Took a while to get to the top of the ridge. Air was pretty thin, so I had to stop to rest a bunch, but worth it. I'd do it again and would like to hike all the way to Green Lakes.

Beautiful trail, steep at points with some scree rock and a few water features to cross. All the lakes are gorgeous

Hiked this while going up to the Summit. The stretch between Big Virginia to Frog Lakes is definitely the most beautiful part of the hike. Cooney Lake was definitely my favorite. Bring lots of water because of elevation gain and altitude.

Gorgeous hike with excellent weather. It rained a little on us which was welcomed as the uphill portion is a bit difficult with the altitude.

Pretty hike. Elevation starts at 12K feet, so you will hike slower than normal. Worth the effort though.

Add it to your bucket list. start early and pack plenty of water and you camera/phone. Definitely a moderate hike. Absolutely gorgeous scenery. trail was clean.I always bring a garbage bag and pick up trash on my feet down but there literally was not one piece of trash to pick up, I am very happy to say. On this particular day in July we had zero bugs but I am told that sometimes there are bugs. There are periods of deep shade, tree roots, small streams to cross, rocks to scramble over, and open sections on the scree field with no shade at all. There is an old miner's cabin near the top. basically, this trail has it all! We would have loved to have kept going but definitely would have needed to pack more food and a lot more water. It was a fantastic work out!

This hike was amazing. There was plenty of parking at the trailhead with an restroom outhouse. Hitting five different lakes on one trail is the highlight. The trail is also pretty well defined, although we used AllTrails to track and it did come in handy several times. There were a few creek crossings but nothing some rock hopping can't handle. There was just a little snow on the path in some areas but in most cases you could just go around it. My favorite was Cooney Lake. There's a beautiful rock to sit on and just stare at all the beauty. This would be a great trail for kids as well. I highly recommend it!
