The trail known as the Big Tree Trail takes you up to Cucamonga Peak from the South East on a very underused trail. The road up to the trail head known as San Sevaine rd. is approximately 10 miles of dirt road that requires at the very minimum a high clearance vehicle but 4 wheel drive is best. Around the 10 mile mark there will be a turn to the right to the old campground, park where you can and begin hiking up the trail. The first couple of miles is the toughest due to down trees and overgrown brush. Once you gain the ridge and cross over to the north side the trail is much nicer except for a few washed out sections. Take the trail to Etiwanda or Cucamonga Peaks and return the way you came.
