The trail to Big Leaf Pool, was fairly simple. We decided to continue on the trail. It went on for another few miles. It got very steep and the trail was a little treacherous in places. Hiked it with two teens and a dog, it was a little much for them, but very pretty.

Trail was very pretty but lots of bugs. I had my dog & there were a quite a bit of ticks. The trail starts at the bridge as well which can be missed easily since parking is further down & across rhe road. Overall was a nice walk & good views

This was a very beautiful hike with a great climb right out of the gate, but there was a ridiculous amount of ticks. Not recommended for doggos. We spent well over an hour pulling dozens of ticks off of our buddy.

Hiked on a Monday and saw no one, but was swarmed by bugs and it was quite hot for much of the hike and the view at the end of the trail is underwhelming.

nice easy hike with only a few places of questionable footing. mostly in shade but on a hot day the sunny patches will kill you. I saw no one on my hike, but granted it was 8am on a Monday in late July. there's a nice rocky outcropping for nice views of the creek if you go a little farther past the falls. nice place to enjoy a quick lunch before heading back

This is a little harder than a typical “easy” . It is beautiful and the trail is well maintained by this time of year. For us it was a hot day and some of the final up and downs were steep for a couple in our group.

A few steep drops alongside river. A lot of poison oak.

Took a boy scout troop hiking down to the falls. It's a pretty short hike, but the trail keeps going downstream for quite a ways. We followed it for another mile past the falls before turning back. The creek was roaring with all the rain and snow this month -- a great time to see the falls.

the trail was really beautiful. Just like the other reviews, youll see the yellow and brown trail marker across the road from the parking area, close to the bridge. the trail is sketchy in some areas as there was loose gravel and rock, but an overall beautiful hike near the creek. There is a lot to see going along. I was a little disappointed at the end at the falls, there is a fish ladder to gelp the salmon up the stream. A bit of an eye sore, but the falls were beautiful. No real trail marker at the end of the hike except a bench.

Beautiful and well-maintained right now. Took 4 humans and 5 dogs. Had a blast. Bring a picnic.

Great trail! Will definitely bring the family back for some hiking and swimming later in the summer as the water is ice cold right now. Some other reviewers wrote that the trail wasn't passable due to downed trees. It is important to ensure you are on the right trail. The trailhead is actually across the highway from the parking area, next to the bridge. It is marked, but you can't easily see the sign from the parking area. If you take the trail next to the blank wooden sign in the parking area, it is indeed impassable with downed trees. Happy hiking!

The GPS leads you directly to a parking area near a bridge. There is a trail head just on the other side of this bridge. We were with a big group and the trail we found had lots of down limbs and was not ideal for families. Several miles up highway 32 there is a deer creek falls sign. Not sure if that is a different trail or not. But that is several miles from where these directions lead you.

Trail was easy to follow and well groomed with nice views of the creek. The creek was very full and water was flowing quickly downstream. It was a great hike with our two dogs!

actually Kelly, the directions are correct. the dirt road (transfer) takes you down to below the falls about four miles. which in turn makes for in my opinion a moderate hike. you also can pick this trail up down in the ishi wilderness area. the way you must of went in is the short cut. as for the falls? you must of visited before the salmon were running up. which... I'd recommend a return if you truly want to see what its all about. good luck!

This was a fun hike, not to hard but not to easy either. completed with a friend, loved the salmon ladder, water was cold! I think it is a better hike/falls than the credit it's given. be sure to walk out on the big rock above the falls, the view is worth it and hit upper deer creek non the way out. short jaunt from the road and pretty.

First of all, the directions given on this site are wrong and misleading. We ended up getting lost and waisting a lot of time trying to find the trailhead. The trailhead is actually right off of highway 32 near the bridge. The site says to turn on a dirt road and follow it for a while... The hike is pretty short and the "waterfall" is not really a waterfall, just water falling about 10 feet. It's a nice hike to take to get a break from driving but not something to fill your day with.
