nice hike with no real shaded areas but nice views but a nice cool ocean breeze, and depending on which way you go you can start with steep incline or end with a steep decline, the only issue i had was out of the 30+ bike riders only 2 gave any kind of warning that they were coming/passing and once i was barley able to pulled my niece out of the way and we were already walking on the right edge of the path

Intense peak initially with an amazing view. Will certainly come back more often!!

Great hike if you take Laguna up to the ridge and take Willow down on the north side. Be careful of the dirt bikers!!! Two young teenager boys came barreling down Laguna and shoved me aside on the very steep and narrow trail, no bells, no warning. I fell and the two jerks just kept on going, thank God I didn’t break any bones. They need to monitor these guys who have no trail etiquette and cause accidents because they just want to barrel down the hill. Other than that, the day was gorgeous, chilly air, strong winds, clear sky, brilliant views of the Pacific to the West and the San Gabriels to the Northeast.

Great hike, good for a run with lots of paths to take. Keep an eye out for rattle snakes where the brush is a bit over grown.

Thought the view would be a bit greener but granted it is middle of July. The steep incline starts immediately. Not impossible but it does go on for the first hour or so, so take your time! Def bring water and Gatorade. It was only 80 degrees when I went and I still felt like I was burning up!

Good hike. But it is really challenging and you hike straight up for at least 45 minutes. It should be put on the hard difficulty.

Big Bend Loop starts off with about 100 yds of "this is nice" and then it goes up. Most of the climbing on this loop trail is at the beginning. If you're a beginner, like me, it is a challenge. Just rest often and take your time. There is plenty to look at because the scenery is great. As you get to the top of the first climb you can see the Pacific. Once at the top you get sweeping vistas of canyons, hills and the ocean. Worth the climb. I was there in late June and it was hot. Bring plenty of water. The trails are well maintained and the park staff that I met were great. Saw hawks, lizards, birds, bees and lots of flowers. I plan to return to do other trails. I recommend this park!

The 1st mile is straight uphill, but worth it with great views.

It's a decent workout, but pretty steep. View isn't worth the effort since I can just drive a couple miles and see it up close.

Great hike. Steep hills. Not much shade. Great views. Bring water.

That's the cliff note of the hike.

I do this track at least 1 or two times a week. If you park in Big Bend lot ($3) you will start up Big Bend 1.4 miles uphill and it is steep. Once you hit the top at Bommer and turn right it is level and then downhill on willow. You will pass the willow parking lot and proceed along 133 on the trails thought to Big Bend lot. I did my best time is 1 hr 33 minutes last weekend.
You can park in Willow lot and start there too but you will have 1 mile of flat land before you hit the steep hill.

One of my favorite hikes in Laguna Wilderness park. It's tough but worth the effort. The first 30 minutes are uphill and quite strenuous. Amazing views of OC and Laguna Beach. Worth taking a mountain bike to the peak as the trail flattens a bit when at the top. $3 parking fee.

Did this Hike with a few buds around 7 am on a Saturday. Gate wasn't opened yet so parked on Laguna Canyon road. Bad idea, 43$ ticket FYI. First mile heading south nice and level. You are walking along street so you get some noise from traffic. The trail starts moving up in elevation roughly 500 feet in a mile. Gets pretty strenuous but push through cause the views of the ocean are rewarding.

Here's another variation that climbs up to the ridge then descends in a cool hidden valley. 7.5 miles, all the details here:

It's good every now and then but I got bored of it fast! It is a good workout though. A little long for my taste sometimes but it's great if you can run the whole thing, maybe you won't get bored. I used to come here 3 times a week.

I did this hike with a friend and it was such a great workout! As soon as you leave the parking lot you walk up your first hill. From there on out you have nothing but steep hills. Saw the ocean from the first stretch of climbing and once you climb your last hill it's all level from there on out. Saw a lot of lizards but nothing to scare you off. If you are a beginner hiker I would not suggest this hike due to its intensity at some points. Other than that it's a great quick workout with friendly hikers.

This is by far my favorite trail. A good experience, a great workout and a beautiful view. Park just past willow canyon and hike to the left...your experience will be well worth it. Gorgeous!!!

First 0.5 miles is all uphill! Definitely an advanced trail. Beautiful views of Laguna canyon and ocean!

Good day hike. It had several steep sections. Big Bend trail is in OC Parks Laguna Coast Wilderness. There is a network of trails of which it is a segment. We choose to turn left at the intersection of Big Bend and Bommer Ridge Trail. We then went down Laguna Ridge Trail back to the parking lot. This was a total of 4.2 miles. Standard Southern California scenery.

There was also a $3.00 parking fee and the gates lock at 5 PM.
