Views were amazing! We went early and only ran into a few other hikers, as we finished it started to get busier and the small pull off for parking was full.

Breathtaking view from the peak of Big Baldy. Trail is in decent condition, but the last stretch has loose rocks and a couple of sharp turns with steep dropoffs. Best to watch your step. Definitely would go again

Great views from the summit, but not a lot to see along the way. The last 100 yards or so were treacherous and not sure footed. Easy to twist an ankle on slippery rocks. Ascent from Monticeto Sequoia Lodge.

It was very cloudy day so there was no views to enjoy but the trail itself was enjoyable.

Went on a cold and foggy day and the hike was still amazing! Also got to hang out with a couple of marmots at the top. Loved the gigantic trees on the way up.

this was really a great hike today. It's not really 5.5 miles but it is actually 4.4 miles. it really was beautiful and we really had a great time

I would rate this hike as easy. Slight elevation gain in the beginning and then it flattens out. I stopped at the rocks about 1 mile before the end since there was better views. Bring a snack and enjoy the beautiful views on a clear day

Trail is pretty easy. And the view is great. Great payoff for a relatively low elevation gain.

The view to the top is gorgeous! Got a 360 degree of view at big baldy! Watch out for a big fallen tree that blocks the trail at the middle of the trail. My wife was injured when she tried to bypassed it.

I can only speak for the trail at the summit. We hiked there from Monticto Lodge which I wouldn't recommend (it's basically a fire road). The view while very pretty, didn't wow me as much as some of the other hikes we did. Theres also a huge cell tower or weather tower very close by that takes away a bit from the atheisticness of the summit.

This trail is awesome! Short drive compared to other locations in Sequoia and Yosemite. The trailhead is right off the road and super easy to find. Trail is very well maintained and easy to follow. No mosquitos (unlike courtright area). Low traffic as well, started at 8ish and got all the way to the top without seeing another soul.

Great 360 panoramic views from the top. I can't wait to go again after a good rainstorm washes away some of the valley smog and improves visibility.

Just a note, the trail is listed as 5.5 miles but the high point of the trail with the best views is only two miles in. So you can make this a 4mile hike and not miss anything.

So fun! Did not want to leave that top viewing area! :P just spectacular and definitely second to none.

If you want to get away from the crowds in the National Park, this is a very nice, moderate trail that takes you out to a great 360-degree view over the Forest (recommended by a ranger). We saw lots of wild flowers and some wildlife. Had a great chat with a local man at the point who talked about getting out on the less used trails.

Stunning views from a moderate hike, but lots of downed trees along the way to scramble over or under.

Loved this trail! Alot of downed trees but they provide an alternative path around most of them while working on trail maintenance. An abundance of wildlife, wildflowers and butterflies. Our 8 and 5 year old even walked in silence enjoying the sounds of a very vibrant forest. Outstanding views from the top!

Good views, very green, but fair amount of trail management going on do to down trees and such. Nice hike.

Nice views, few people, beautiful meadows. The elevation gain at the beginning makes for some sweet views. I recommend taking the full loop, and coming out at Battle Creek Falls.

Very nice trail. There was still some snow on the ground. Lots of shade.

Did this April 23. Plenty of snow, but it was compact. Did fine with just hiking boots. Hard to see the trail most of the time because of the snow, but there are red markers on the trees to help guide you. Good hike!

Absolutely breathtaking views a buddy of mine and I just randomly decided to follow this trail and we were pleasantly surprised with the beautiful scenic views. It was even more beautiful because the sun was setting and we were nearly at or above cloud level ! I'm glad we didn't run into any wildlife either because it got dark fast after that and we rushed to civilization again just to be safe
