Description
Waypoints (0)

A former landfill site, Bedwell Bayfront Park was created after the landfill was closed and capped off in the mid-1980s. The park opened to the public soon afterwards. Bayfronts hilly terrain, specifically designed for passive recreation, now serves as a landmark high point along the edge of San Francisco Bay. Various development proposals have threatened the parks open space and wildlife, including development of a golf course and playing fields. These proposals have since been withdrawn or defeated by voters, and the park today remains as public open space.

This marked trail is insanely consulted but the actual park is good for a convenient outdoor walk

Nice trail for exercise. Not too much in the way of scenic views inside the park (good bay views though), or shade.

I’m happy to give it 4 although there is not much to do in this trail, but think about it, from a land field it became a place for wildlife, natural habitats and human. I loved the whole view of former salt ponds. The colors of minerals appear incredible on the surface of our planet

Nice hilled area to walk. You can avoid hills all together because there are many flat trails. There is always someone there, so don't expect to be alone. But it still is peaceful and has nice views of the Menlo Park and Dumbarton. Shade is nonexistent. Covid-19 means there is limited parking. Be prepared to not find a spot and you may need to return at a later time.

A very pleasant and calm. There were lots of salt caked banks along the streams. I read one of the plaques at the top of a hill and learned that this used to be the location of salt evaporation pools! Really cool. The salt makes it look like a frozen river in winter. A few of the smaller trails had grown over, but there are plenty of other trails to make detours with.

I didn’t really hike on this Trail, was just walking in Sand Hill Rd . It’s not that I wanted to do but I can’t walk from home to the Trail today. But there’re beautiful flowers on my way

A great local hike. To get higher mileage you could weave back and forth through the many trails in the park. Great views of the salt marshes and salt fields. Could be very muddy if wet out.

A pretty easy trail that I walked with my King Charles Spaniel on a leash. Saw a jackrabbit, some Canada geese, seagulls, lots of hibernating snails and small birds hunting for mice. Never lost cell phone signal, which is great because I can safely bring my kid to hike here now. I am giving this trail a 4 out of 5 because so much of the view is big industrial buildings and huge high tech campuses. Where ever all you can see is nature, the view is great.

Beautiful hike with unobstructed views of the southern San Francisco Bay. Nice Rolling hills, giving you ample choice for a light elevation workout. Only downside was an adult operating a large remote controlled gas powered RC. Shouldn’t be allowed.

I often walk both my dogs here, and it’s great for its accessibility to nearby neighborhoods. Easy parking. Lots of crisscrossing trails, so you can pick whether you want to climb hills or not. Lovely views of the South Bay and salt flats. A great spot for a dog walk and quick nature fix in the midst of Silicon Valley.

Enjoyable easy ramble with my 7yo and 4yo. Pretty flat, almost entirely exposed, nice views of the bay. Not the most amazing place to hike ever, but great to have it so readily accessible from nearby residential areas. We did find a certain type of bush that was crawling with ladybugs, which my kids loved. I didn’t notice the smell from the waste water treatment facility, but it was very visible at the end of our walk.

Nice and easy hiking spot. Slightly stinky in certain spots but not too bad. Not much shade. Spotted a black and white cat on the trail!
