Similar to Runyon Canyon in Hollywood but less foot traffic. Went up the North side and came down the South. Nice, steady incline, on the North and pretty steep coming down the South. If you are looking for a challenge, go up the South side. About 2-2.5 hours round trip. Bring water and a hat. Nice views of Burbank and DTLA at the top.

Quick 1 hour loop by bike. A 3.5 mile mellow climb followed by an exciting 2+ mile descent. Make sure your brakes work and carry a bike bell to alert hikers.
Recommend riding in the late afternoon after the sun has gone down to avoid the glare and heat.

Hiked this for the first time today. About a good hour uphill. A hiker advised us to go right towards north motorway to avoid as much sun and that was such great advice! Takes lots of water, for 2 of us we took 80oz and we're good. It was a lot of fun!

I agree with some of the other reviewers that this is a bit of a workout, but totally worth it and great for anyone who's moderately in shape (I'm way out of shape and I made it by just taking it slow and enjoying the views). Bring plenty of water, and some kind of snack/picnic thing because there's a ton of awesome places to stop and enjoy the views. We went around late afternoon and walked back out just as the sun fully set. Give yourself a lot of time. I think coming here early in the morning as the sun comes up would be AWESOME.

This was a nice hike in the neighborhood. It is mostly non shaded and a good workout. Again, sunscreen, hat, water, and start early if you're hiking in the day.

Great uphill hike. But what goes up must come down!! The downside is the downhill. All around nice place!

Very close and convenient for me. Beautiful views, and the loop is a great workout! Not a lot of shade.

Beaudry Loop is a nice tough hike! Fire road loop with beautiful views up and down. Trail head a little hidden on Beaudry Blvd just as it turns to Beaudry Terrace, you'll see cars parked at the paved trail head. It splits with the North and South road but it loops so you come back to the same spot. Lots of sun so if you start early and go on the North trail for the morning sun it circles around back down the South trail side which is mostly shady if you go before 10am. A bench at top give you 360 views! Good for the solo hiker, can't get lost and you do see people on your hike but not many depending on the time of day. Bikers love this trail, it's a tough climb on foot and especially on bike.

It's kind of an echo of Mt. Hollywood, but less people, excellent fire road trails. This loop doesn't have the steep heavily worn tracks of Mt. Hollywood, and I enjoyed it more. The valley hills are lightly trafficked and the views are sweeping. Mountain bikers, the intense ones, ride these trails, its dog friendly.

Awesome, in almost every way. Easy parking, quiet, uncrowded, but no restroom facilities whatsoever. Very challenging grades, long (did I mention long?) hot and grueling. Bring water, and drink your water. The vistas are magnificent. Recommend taking the left turn loop (clockwise), as the views of Dtla appear early on, looking westward over Glendale and the Elysian Valley. The reward at the top is blissful. A bench and monument at the crest of Tonga peak, with geographic and historical information. I'm a native Angelino and have never seen such a dramatic, almost 360 degree view of the city. With emphasis on the San Fernando Valley. Made my mind drift back to how Mr. Lankershim's vision for the future must have been. Can't wait to go back.

This is the same trail as Verdugo Mountains South Loop Trail. Great workout. Steady incline and great views of Glendale on one side and DTLA on the other.
