The elevation gain is a steady, fairly even climb when taking the north loop up. This hike is very exposed so best to do in the morning, later evening or in cooler weather. The views are really fantastic north to Angeles National Forest and south on a clearer day. Great weekday shorter training hike or workout without the crowds of other more popular trails like Echo Mountain or Runyon Canyon. The path is a wide fire road so be aware of mountain bikers. There are a few offshoots to other trails in the Verdugo Mountains which are very clearly marked.

we did this hike a while back and there wasn't a lot of shade but when you get to the top you can see Glendale Burbank and the whole Crescenta Valley

Went up the North Side and came down the South. The loop takes about 2 hours and change. Beautiful views of the surrounding areas.

If you're looking for a moderately difficult trail, you've found it, I hiked from the North side it's 2.1 miles all the way up to the stone bench and it was a steep climb, I left at 5 PM with the sun above my head and thankfully there are trees to keep one cool and it does help when you have a 1.5 liter of hydration pack I got to the top in 2 hours it takes most advanced hikers 50 minutes. I then hiked down from the South side to take advantage of the sunlight before arriving down to my car which took me a little longer than normal as I was hiking with a few club members. All in all it was a great experience, which I would love to repeat a few times a week, it's a great exercise if you want to shed some pounds off.

Beautiful views of Glendale, Burbank, and downtown L.A make this hike worth it. Going counter clockwise or right at the fork is a little bit easier uphill.

Great hike with lots of pretty wildflowers late April and May. There's zero shade so it's best to go early morning or night hike. Parking is very easy too. The hike itself is a great steady workout. Oh, watch out for fire ants. My dog got bit by some of them and was in great pain for the rest of the day.

Tough, but enjoyable hike! The loop is 5 miles in total and you go straight up for 2.5 miles. The peak offers views in every direction and the hike down the mountain is even more enjoyable. Took me about three hours to complete and wasn’t very busy on a Sunday afternoon.

This is a strenuous hike and so much fun! Great views, easy parking, sometimes the occasional mountain bike. Fun to see the radio towers up close.

Really good workout. Make sure you bring enough water as the trail is strenuous and there is not much shade.

Perfect climb and great views. a bit too much for 11 and under. I'd rate it an easy hard hike or a hard moderate.
we did this hike on a moderately warm spring day. started at 8:30am. that was almost too late (for the entire loop).
did it in 2.25 hours with little stopping. bugs were out.

Did this hike on a Saturday after it rained on Friday night. The views were beautiful and clear the entire hike. Extremely light traffic. Only saw a few people midday on a weekend. I definitely plan on doing this hike again. It was great.

Similar to Runyon Canyon in Hollywood but less foot traffic. Went up the North side and came down the South. Nice, steady incline, on the North and pretty steep coming down the South. If you are looking for a challenge, go up the South side. About 2-2.5 hours round trip. Bring water and a hat. Nice views of Burbank and DTLA at the top.

Great workout! It's a very steady incline to the top. We started at 8am and went clockwise so there were decent amounts of shade along parts of the trail. Later in the day it was mostly direct sun. Wonderful views and not too much traffic. (Hike date 2/11/18)

Quick 1 hour loop by bike. A 3.5 mile mellow climb followed by an exciting 2+ mile descent. Make sure your brakes work and carry a bike bell to alert hikers.
Recommend riding in the late afternoon after the sun has gone down to avoid the glare and heat.

Hiked this for the first time today. About a good hour uphill. A hiker advised us to go right towards north motorway to avoid as much sun and that was such great advice! Takes lots of water, for 2 of us we took 80oz and we're good. It was a lot of fun!

I agree with some of the other reviewers that this is a bit of a workout, but totally worth it and great for anyone who's moderately in shape (I'm way out of shape and I made it by just taking it slow and enjoying the views). Bring plenty of water, and some kind of snack/picnic thing because there's a ton of awesome places to stop and enjoy the views. We went around late afternoon and walked back out just as the sun fully set. Give yourself a lot of time. I think coming here early in the morning as the sun comes up would be AWESOME.

This was a nice hike in the neighborhood. It is mostly non shaded and a good workout. Again, sunscreen, hat, water, and start early if you're hiking in the day.

Great uphill hike. But what goes up must come down!! The downside is the downhill. All around nice place!

Very close and convenient for me. Beautiful views, and the loop is a great workout! Not a lot of shade.

Only went partway up north loop but very nice trail. You get into the hills quickly. Not crowded but not isolated either, at least on the weekend. Would not hike it on hot days as there is very little shade and its a steady incline.

leads to a great view of a neighborhood in the mountains

Beaudry Loop is a nice tough hike! Fire road loop with beautiful views up and down. Trail head a little hidden on Beaudry Blvd just as it turns to Beaudry Terrace, you'll see cars parked at the paved trail head. It splits with the North and South road but it loops so you come back to the same spot. Lots of sun so if you start early and go on the North trail for the morning sun it circles around back down the South trail side which is mostly shady if you go before 10am. A bench at top give you 360 views! Good for the solo hiker, can't get lost and you do see people on your hike but not many depending on the time of day. Bikers love this trail, it's a tough climb on foot and especially on bike.
