Bear Creek trail and Coastal trail combined. The trail is well marked and easily navigated. The trail is heavily used and has many alternative routes. It can be damp and muddy in the winter. Great for mountain biking. Relatively flat. Well marked trails with trail heads and milage on signs. Busy on the weekend. Light during the week. Pack a lunch and water. Please note: The Trail to Arch Rock is currently closed.

There’s much to see and do in and around the Bear Valley Visitor Center before the hike. The Bear Valley Trail begins at the Visitor Center & ranks as one of the most popular trails in Point Reyes NS. It gently climbs up one shady valley & descends down another to the coast. Beautiful streams run beside the trail. Hikers break out into sunshine at the coast. The trail to Arch Rock is permanently closed but scenic Kelham Beach with its waterfall is the perfect alternative. For a video & information visit hikingthegoldenstate.com.

Great trail to walk, absolutely beautiful and great surroundings. Trees provide shade while area has ocean breezes to cool down. 2 things that were a tiny bit of a let down were 1st horse poop all over the place and second the coastal part of trail is fully overgrown and you have to take your chances. But a beautiful and amazing hike and totally worth it.

Beautiful well groomed trail for most of the time. Gorgeous coast view, but no beach access.

This was a nice trail to visit on a June day with a high of 70° The first 4 miles had plenty of shade in the morning and getting out to the Coast Trail and back took about 3.5 hours. Sadly, I did not make it to the sweeping ocean views because the “left fork” at Coast Trail (the one to Stewart Trail and Wildcat Camp) were so overgrown that it felt like I was going through a jungle... and I was nervous about poison oak or ivy. There was a bathroom about 1.6 miles from the trailhead and the path was relatively flat with some points of gradual incline/decline. Also, watch your step for droppings of horses and other animals.

Beautiful well maintained trail for easy hiking, not much elevation but after 10 miles your glad it was mostly flat. We really enjoyed this hike!

Pretty busy trail, but the ocean views at the end were worth it. I wanna come backack and check all the side trails.

There were some muddy parts on the trail but overall pretty nice and flat despite the distance. There’s a fork near the end of the trail and we made a right (instead of a left) so had to turn back. Gorgeous views of the water and Point Reyes at the coast. Would recommend bringing some snacks to sit and enjoy.

Almost all flat terrain and mostly shaded. I would consider this an easy nature stroll and with the exception of the distance, it is great for all ages. Beautiful trees, ferns, and other plants everywhere! We went on Labor Day and started at 3 pm- there were many people returning from their hike but not many people starting it at that time.

Amazing views! We actually took the Coast Trail onto a beach that had a few caves. We hung out in a cave while watching the waves, whales, and seals. Beautiful hike the entire way to the beach. Definitely worth it. And definitely going again. Was an amazing date location!

This trail is one of my favorites not to much hills, nice smooth stroller accessible all the way to Kelham beach To access the beach stay to the right when you meet the coast trail and go down when you get to the giant tree. you can't miss it. Bring extra water. it's long but not too difficult. Have fun

Great hike for novice hikers or people who want to get outdoors as the terrain is relatively flat.
