Lots of lizards and poison oak throughout the trail. We saw a rattle snake after 4 corners half way up to the peak

Went with my dog and a buddy. Fairly easy hike until the last stretch. Not crowded at all

I started this hike around noon on Sunday, which was perfect timing. If you're using Google Maps, type in San Juan Loop trail head to get to the parking lot. Once parked, cross the street to the candy store and on your right, will be the Bear Canyon trail head.

Trail is super well maintained and not too hard. Pretty easy to follow since there's white sticks that points you to Four Corners, then a sharp right to Sitton Peak. You'll know when you're close to the peak when you enter a very steep trail on your right. This trail is VERY steep and I suggest trekking poles if you have some - it'll make your life much easier going up and especially down. However, still very possible without them.

The view at the top was amazing. I would highly recommend this trail.

The amount of washout led to an interesting straddling of the trail in multiple areas. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail (Tue 12-3p). Last climb to summit is slightly overgrown and has potential to get off route. Summit has a nice view of the coast.

This was a moderate to strenuous hike that took 4.5 hours including a 15 minute rest at the top. I started out at 7.40am to beat the heat. It was 60F starting and when I got back it 97F. I took 1.5 liters of water with me and ran out over the last mile even though the trail has shade in many places. Being Thanksgiving it was deserted bar a pleasant young lady and her two dogs at the peak itself. I signed my name in the UGS marker travel log at the peak. The last half mile was very steep and the trail was hard, in poor condition and not well marked. Coming down I went wrong and had to back track to the peak itself.

Always a good hike, especially the last 1/2 mile. Nice day to hike.

The last half mile or so to the peak is a real kicker, but the otherwise easy, meandering trail and phenomenal view at the top makes this hike more than worth it. Don't forget to sign the summit register at the top!
