Description
Waypoints (0)

A trek along this 1,000-acre ridgetop visits the San Francisco Bay Discovery site, a former Nike missile site, and unique coastal plant communities. Offering sweeping views of the coast and bay, the trail is a combination of singletrack and unpaved and paved road. Because there is no trailhead on the southern end of the trail, this segment description is from north to south. The exposed ridge can be windy, foggy, or hot and is subject to sudden changes in weather. Hiker-only on Notch Trail. The surrounding area has opportunities for hiking with your dog, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Restrooms can be found near Sweeney Ridge and Sneath Lane junction. For more information, see the Bay Area Ridge Trail page here: https://ridgetrail.org/sweeney-ridge-to-milagra-ridge-pacifica-to-mussel-rock/ This trail description is excerpted from the 2019 Guidebook. On trail by 9am before the crowds arrived. Great mix of open dirt lanes, challenging steps in the beginning and change in elevation with a loop through grassy fields. Forgot to turn on recording until 30 minutes in. Parking lot closed but street parking easy in the morning.

First to Review

Great wide trail going up the hill for about 2 miles and mostly flat after that. Parking is at Skyline college, but due to shelter in place it was blocked, I parked in the neighborhood and it did add extra 8 minutes walking to trail head. Wind is pretty strong on the top of the ridge and view was limited because of ocean fog, which is normal thing here. On the clear day you should be able to see both sides : ocean and city parts!
