Explore the charm, seclusion, natural wonders, and historic and cultural variety of the 1,491-acre Presidio. Stunning views await you on this trip through forests and along coastal bluffs that ends at the Golden Gate Bridge. Interpretive panels along the route provide information about the Presidio’s unique natural and cultural history. For more information, see the Bay Area Ridge Trail page here: https://ridgetrail.org/san-francisco-presidio-2/ This trail description is excerpted from the 2019 Guidebook. For details on all trails, trailheads and more buy the book from Wilderness Press: https://www.wildernesspress.com/product.php?productid=16685&cat=274&bestseller=Y Accessibility: There are at least 3 designated, handicapped-accessible parking spaces with multiple striped access aisles in the parking lot at the southern end off of Arguello Boulevard. This route has either a paved or packed dirt surface, is estimated to typically be at least four feet wide, and has an estimated moderately steep grade. Assistance may be needed for equipment users in the sections over a 5% grade. Part of the first 0.7 miles of this route is on a roadway shared with motor vehicles (no sidewalks) so caution and the use of a helmet, reflective material and/or lights is suggested on wheelchairs and strollers in this section. The route joins a roadway without sidewalks again at 1.5 miles. Depending on recent, current, and potential weather/trail conditions, trail goers using mobility equipment or a stroller may need to avoid the unpaved areas of the trail from about the 1.0 to 1.5 mile mark. There is a bike lane along Washington Boulevard if wishing to avoid this unpaved section. At 1.8 miles the route leaves the roadway and joins the Coastal Trail. More information about the most accessible parts of the Coastal Trail from Baker Beach to the Bridge can be viewed on this trail page: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/california/golden-gate-bridge-from-baker-beach-trail

WalkingGreat!

Super cute trail! It is open!! The entrance is closed off but theres a detour sign which brings you to the head of a neighboring trail which immediately reconnects you with the trail. The detour is located right behind the parking lot fences. Otherwise the trail is cute. If you keep walking past the end, youll hit a WWII memorial with some solid views of the ocean and bridge.

The very initial section of the trail is closed, there is an alternative start point from the car park to get around it. Nice quick urban hike!

Beautiful trail with variation, from woods to overlooking the bay and Golden Gate Bridge. would recommend bringing water we got fairly thirsty even on a mild windy day. however we couldn’t bring our dog :(

Somewhat too crowded for my taste. Beautiful views and some impressive old growth trees among other lush flora. The dogs had to be on the leash for much of the walk.

We walked a little bit past where the trail was done and saw a great view of the Golden Gate bridge. The hike there was fine, but the view at the end was quite nice.

Short loop around golf course. Good for dog walking. Links to additional Presidio trails. If the dog is off leash note that sections are MUPs: watch for cyclists, joggers, large groups.

Running

Very few other people on the trail. Mostly forest with some areas on street/pavement. Most of the climbing is done on the way out, so the way back is a little less exhausting. Fairly short run so good for people looking for some exercise but nothing too extreme.
