Amazing trail on a Sunday afternoon. We looked for mountain lion but met few mountain bikers funny and friendly ones. It's a worth if you enjoy the Bay area landscapes then this one is a candy for your eyes
Great trail, no one was on it mid week. Half shade half sun. Beautiful views at beginning and end.
Very scenic and good amount of shade. Start of the Long Ridge Trail had a steep climb, but it was fairly easy after that. No restrooms at the parking area.
Okay-ish hike. Go in the morning, preferably before sunrise, for majestic view of the clouds covering the valley. You might catch a view of a fawn in their natural habitat. Trails will be crowded with bicyclists if you go later. Oh, and be careful with literal horse poop.
This is where the Little Buddy was planted. Close to the Boy Scout camp is.
Lots of bicyclists. At least 3 out of 5 miles in this loop have no shade. The best views are seen in the first half mile. Rest of it is generic south bay trail with lots of brown lizards.
Excellent easy hike. Chit chat with friends + enjoy nature. Plus the drive there is a gearhead’s dream (be careful of cyclists though)
Beautiful trail on a very hot spring day. Most of it under the trees. Very diverse and very quiet. A good under the sun elevation gain at the back end of the trail. Keep energy and water for the last stretch. Lots of birds and wild life. Bugs around the creek but nothing annoying. Good get the day going morning hike.
I hiked this route and the recorder said it was 7.2 miles, not 5. I think 7.2 might be a bit of an overestimation, but it’s definitely closer to that than to 5. A nice mix of shaded woods and open fields, and the slopes were gentle. But, if you’re looking for the giant redwood trees that the Santa Cruz Mountains are known for, this trail doesn’t really have any.
Loved this trail. I went on a rainy day so I want to go back as I bet there are really good view if I wasn’t in a rain cloud the whole time. Great trail, only saw a few other people. Definitely gonna do this one again
Relatively good experience. Some through wooded areas but comes out into the open with some good views. I did see a mountain lion on the trail. We looked at each other and he scurried away. Also saw quite a few deer. Where there is predator there is prey.
Sunny despite the West horizon being covered on clouds. Middle part fully shaded. not much traffic, more mountain bikes than hikers. Still green though dry.
Lots of mtn bikes. Half is dirt road, no switchbacks. Half no trees.
