This portion of Bay Area Ridge Trail takes you from Tilden to Redwood Regional and passes by Sibley and Huckleberry. The foliage changes from dry at the start of the hike and becomes progressively more lush and wooded as you get closer to Huckleberry Nature area. The hike isn't too difficult. The only hard climb is when you are approaching Sibley and there are restrooms and water fountains at the staging area when you crest the hill.

The start of the hike passes through EBMUD lands. The Skyline and De La Veaga trails are part of the north watershed. So that means you should bring a permit and no bikes or dogs are allowed.

I've been wanting to do this hike for awhile now as it was a missing link in my quest to complete the east bay ridge trail. Now I've hiked/biked everything from Inspiration Point in Tilden to the May Rd. staging area in Union City, which is about 45 miles. I can't connect any further south until the Niles Canyon section is completed in 2018. But I'm looking forward to heading north on Nimitz Way in the future.
