Lightly trafficked Sat late morning. CW trail has a very steep section on mile 3. If you prefer an easier, longer ascent, would recommend CCW. There is hardly any shade so plenty of water and a hat/sunglasses are suggested for sunny days. Rangers there to watch cars/assist in case of emergencies which was great (didn't worry as much about someone breaking into our car like we usually do)

Despite the massive amount of cow poop, the bugs flying around you, it really is a great experience for anyone looking for a scenic trail experience. Some of the trails are great for kids to do and have some cool nature scenes that they can learn from and tons of cows. I have done this trail multiple times.

Great evening hike to catch the sunset. Was moderate busy with Mountainbikers, which I can see as a problem in busier seasons. We were, however, surprised how steep parts of the trail were. More strenuous than we had hoped..

Great trail for a sunset hike. I would recommend completing this loop in a counter-clockwise direction to avoid a pretty steep climb out.

Most of this trail is a fire-road with no shade. The views are ho-hum. Maybe more interesting after rain or in spring when wild flowers cover the hills.

We hiked this trail and added an extra segment venturing into Alum Rock Park. Excellent views at the top of Sierra Vista. Recommend starting early as there is almost no shade; you may also have the benefit of clearing clouds to add some grandeur to the landscape. Unfortunately, there is only one way (to my knowledge) to access Alum Rock Park from Sierra Vista; it would have been nice to do a full loop from the top of Sierra Vista travelling through Alum Rock Park and returning on Lower Calaveras Fault Trail, but alas this is inaccessible due to Private Property signs on the eastern edge of Alum Rock Park.

This trail is used by both hikers, mountain bikes and runners. It’s exposed so it’s best to run it early during the summer. The rest of the year you can run or hike it at any time.

A bit muddy right now after the rain as the trail descend ... We turned around and just went to the peak to enjoy the views. Loved watching the birds flying and hunting.
