The hike is great and easy for kids on the dirt road area.can get steep for the little legs.my 3yr did get tired at times but my 11 yr old did great! we did see a snake but a really small black & yellow one lots of lizards.my kids were excited to see one.little thing was more scared of us then we were of it.theres different ways to get to the waterfall but if u take the dirt road all the way up u will eventually have to climb rocks, mud and tree stumps to get there and its off road but trust me its worth it.several people were swimming in the waterfall water.several dogs off leash.theres a little pond area my 3 year old was able to get it and be safe in.deepest went up to his knee.weather was great! 68degrees...definately got sunburned on my face.the only negative thing is that the tesla parked behind me had got broken into while we were there.

This place is amazing. Plenty of room a different spots for kids to play ,and adventurous if you leave the kids at home.

Excellent trail for the entire fam (we have younger and older kids)! Very easy to distinguish the trail through the woods. Once you hit the open granite just keep in mind a few trail markers for the return, or use the AllTrails GPS like we did. Super easy. I recommend staying through the evening golden hour for incredible light. If you do, don't forget to pack your headlamp!

Wonderful hike for all ages. We camped near the trail head so it was a fun activity to do with our group. Basis falls also provided a great swimming area.

If you have a 4x4 vehicle you can pretty much get right up to the falls. This is not only a great place to hike it's an amazing summer watering hole for you and your dog pals. If your adventurous you can even climb up to the top of the falls on the left side of the falls (looking at them). The view of the whole El Dorado National Forest is gorgeous from up there. It was our first time here and the hike was worth it ! The water was so refreshing and not a lot of people where their mostly family’s and that’s ok cause we are one also.. we hiked down more towards the bottom and found a lot of private waterfalls and swimming holes . On the drive there to the start of the trail was a huge hole that our car wouldn’t be able to go over . So we have to hike to the start of the trail . And park at the very end ..

Downloading this app was the best thing I've ever done. We did a family trip today. The drive to the trail was easy to find with this app. The road is a little rough so I recommend a higher clearance vehicle like a truck or SUV otherwise good luck trying to push your vehicle out. Otherwise the walk to the falls itself is pretty easy.

We took the dog and it was every bit as gorgeous as we had hoped. We were looking for the longer version but made a wrong turn somewhere. That being said, the waterfall did not disappoint. It was full and raging. The only downside was because we went early, the light was right behind the falls making it hard to photograph. Still worth it.

Easy short trail. All the snow is melted. The waterfall is raging a LOT right now. Climbed up above the falls to backpack overnight. Very pretty up there. To follow the river further up we had to do a lot of bushwacking, and we have scratches all over our shins to show for it. It was well worth it!

So gorgeous! Plan to spend some time at the falls. We had to take our shoes off and play in the water a bit. Some small rocky bits on the trail, but nothing too crazy. The fall is amazing right now!
