Did a bit of a different loop but enjoyed it. Beautiful views and fun change of scenery throughout. Saw a bunch of wild Turkeys

This trail is roughly 60% sunny and exposed, and 40% redwood and coast live oak forest. It’s a little steep in spots, so be careful if it’s rained recently. And exposed rocks make the path down Baldwin Loop (toward highway 1, on the south side) very slippery. The views are beautiful on a clear day.

Extended it a bit. No issues with overgrowth.

Such different scenery throughout the hike- very peaceful and not crowded at all (I did go on the 4th though). Not smooth ground surface, was a mix of hard rocks, sand and dirt so definitely a workout. I started counter clockwise and would recommend it. Really pretty- lots of butterflies and some cool views. It was 8.5 miles though and not the 7 this states.

We chose to do the reverse of the suggested route due to the first 1/8th being muddy and overgrown with wild radish, thistle and definitely poison oak. This time the trail wasn’t thick with mountain bike riders. Still, keep alert and aware on the single tracks. First portion 2/3 of the trail is exposed to the elements so come prepared with windbreaker or jacket and sun protection when the clouds break. Last portion mostly meanders in the forests passing trickling stream beds. If the 1st portion of the north end of Baldwin is dry and cut back, I’d do this route again.

Did the loop in one hour, first half was great, nice views, a workout but not too tough. Second half was very overgrown, there was a point I wasn’t even sure I was still on the trail. Rough parts only last about half a mile though.

If you want the covered portion of the hike first start left or if you want the open aired portion first start right.
