This stretch is much more rough and steep in spots that the portion further west. Due to this reason, it really isn't appropriate for beginning mountain bikers, and as a result, I was only passed by a handful of bikers. There weren't too many joggers or hikers either, giving stretches of solitude. There are a few blackened trees on the route, but the trail is largely open and sunny, making for a hot trail midday even in early Spring. There are some interesting rock formations on the way and this section has a some running water in a Zuma creek, but not very much. I didn't see or hear any waterfalls on the trail, but I did see a couple of drops that could be dry waterfalls. The road noise from Kanan Dume Rd is constant over the first 1.5 miles, but there is only intermittent road noise after that point. There were a few wildflowers out to brighten things up.

Parking lot and a potty. Short distance and very gentle elevation changes make this an... Easy hike, Not moderate. First 50 min trail then turn right on fire-road. Great—-only two other people on the trail! 7:00. Car. Ele: 1560 7:50. Fireroad. Ele:1740 8:00. End of trail (at encinal canyon rd). No falls just dwp pond-facility. Ele:1750 9:05. Car

Fairly simple hike, not a ton of ocean views, but still strenuous.

Super boring trail...the water is bone-dry at the moment and trail doesn't have a destination. You can't actually hike to the Falls, but you can see remnant of it on the trail. There is some shade and some greenery. Cool day at least and plenty of parking spaces.

It was a good trail very nice. Was a cool day out in the afternoon and not that many people but there were maybe still about 5 other people that wore mask.

The trail is beautiful, but it’s too crowded! I think it would be nice to go for a hike early morning to avoid the crowds. also lots of people not wearing mask.

Folks say lots of shade but this trail was pretty sunny & hot. I hike all over the place and in all weather but the heat up here will sneak up on ya for a short trail, so make sure you bring the water and salty snacks. This trail is great during Covid as there were not many people hiking here Saturday morning at all.

Plenty of shade, decent elevation changes to get a workout, not too steep, sandy in some areas and more rocky in other parts of the trail. Moderate traffic.

Nice trail. took about 2 hours and pretty easy but enough rolling hills to feel you're getting a workout. Oaks are coming back after the fire which is very nice to see. not much water. started around 8:30 am on a Saturday so wasn't too busy and could find parking. it got busy on our way back

Went there at 8 am on a Sunday and the traffic was very light. The trail is pretty well maintained and easy to follow. The end point to turn around is anti climatic but there is a cool rock you can scramble up to if you want to add a little extra challenge.

free parking, very dry, and repeating boring scenic veiw of rolling mountains. arrived at 7:00 am and you can hear every move in the dry bushes and we did not see any other people until 9:15 am. You will have to share the narrow trail with bikers. good amount of incline going and coming.
