This is definitely a moderate to hard hike. I went the wrong way, so try to pay better attention to the markers than I did!! Haha! Shady with a little sun most of the way... the last couple miles is in the open space. Bring water. Good shoes. Sunscreen. Gorgeous any time of year.

I got to parking lot at 10:00 and it was packed. I did the hike counter clockwise, which kept the sun behind me most of the way. Water in the falls but not much. Still great day and weather

Lovely trail. Lots of shade in the morning. Mix of wide trails and single path. Great views from the single track trail. Highly recommended.

Nice set of trails, but very confusing with all the offshoots. Also, not a lot of shade if you're a midday hiker like me. Very hot in late August!

This is a hard trail. At some points, path is very narrow so be careful while walking. At least half the trail is shaded and It will be better if you start early to avoid summer heat. Waterfalls are so small and little water now. Overall its a good challenging 8+ miles hike.

This trail is really underrated, starts with creekside beauty and butterflies, Middle is scenic panoramic valley views and wildflowers, and end was a creekside stroll through the oaks. Highly recommended in late spring.

just did the trail today (4/15/19) and yeap this trail can be considered hard due to the inclines and steepness of some of the trails but other than that it was actually calming. my friend and I went around 8am and the weather was just perfect, not to hot and not too cold either, the breeze was even helpful. I would actually come back here again. it was nice being at the summit looking over the horizon and hearing the Waterfalls in the background.

this was a fun trail. I almost got lost twice and needed to refer back to the app for navigation. there was poison oak on some parks of the trail so be careful! p.s. bring a lot of water.

This trail has everything you’d want during a beautiful sunny, spring day in the Bay! Fair amount of wildflowers, babbling streams, a few waterfalls, and TONS of greenery. I hiked the entire loop starting at Mitchell Canyon trailhead which took me 3 hrs 20 mins with a few water/snack breaks. I would recommend this loop trail for any experienced hiker or athlete who wants to get in a great workout and enjoy the beauty Mt. Diablo has to offer! Fitbit tracked my mileage at 8.66. I suggesting bringing AllTrails app along to make sure you’re going the right way or to make short cuts as needed.

Fantastic trail in Feb when hills are green! Some steep parts where trekking poles came in handy. Saw waterfalls and few shallow stream crossings.

Do this now, while the falls are flowing and the temps are low. Mud on the Trails is very manageable and water crossings can all be completed without getting wet if you’re careful. Happy trails!
