This trail is a portion of the PCT between I-80 and Highway 40 near Donner Summit/Truckee CA.This trail is a great moderate hike with breathtaking scenery and granite monoliths to play on and can be started easily from either direction. Mosquito's are prevalent in spring. Donner lake is visible from portions of the trail as well as great views of Castle peak.

Beautiful day. Pristine blue skies. Fairly easy hike. Quick 20-ish min to Azalea, and only an extra 10 to Flora. Well worth it. Pay attention to your GPS to bounce off to the right to get to the lakes. Small column of stacked stones where the trail departs the PCT, but no sign. Great time spent outdoors, and an absolutely stunning area to explore. We will be back more than a few times, I suspect.

Great easy trail for kids and adults. Beautiful scenery. Not well marked at the 1/2 way Point but the trail goes off to the right for a shorter hike to the lake or left for a longer loop. Helps to keep the app running to make sure you stay on the trail.

There are no sign so keep your gps on. I didn’t pay attention to my gps and kept following the trail so we end up taking a longer trail that took us to Lake Angela then to Flora lake and back to our car. The view was great, the hike was easy.

Easy to get to, fun, twisty trail through rocks and trees, and great swimming in Lake Flora.

Lovely hike. As previous reviews have noted there are no signs marking the turn off for the lakes. We never would have been able to find the correct trail without GPS. The nice thing is most traffic stays on the main trail so even on a busy Saturday we saw just a few others along the way. We actually continued on to Lake Angela which worked well. Trail after Flora Lake can be unclear at times but GPS made it easy to figure out if we made a wrong turn (which we did).

This is a very easy and beautiful hike. it's more of a stroll through the woods but along the way there are two or three small little "ponds" and two stunning lakes. the only issue we had was getting to the two lakes.. there are no signs and it is very easy to lose your way and take the wrong trails (which we did 3 times) USE YOUR GPS!! Will definitely be going back again soon!!

An easy hike to two lakes. keep your GPS on otherwise you can miss the trail to the lakes as there is no sign for Azalea lake. the flowers are in full blown.

This place is beautiful!! Great place for swimming, bringing kids, and walking dogs. The rocks and wild flowers are so pretty. Definitely go in the morning before it gets too hot. If your looking for the right and beautiful place to hike this should be it.

Beautiful hike once you get on the hiking path. Not marked well to find your way, so you have to just guess at times. Flora lake is beautiful. Several people and dogs, but a good easy-moderate hike.

The whole area is plastered with signs that permits are required nov-may 30! After driving here, we had to turn around. No information on where to get permits or how much they cost- this was a bummer :(

I love this hike year around! We have gone in everything from stormy and white out to hot and sunny weather. Sitting where you can see Donner Lake and eat lunch is a treat. I have missed the turn to the lakes which is not marked and advise using GPS. It is my favorite place to take beginners and kids.

Beautiful hike! Shade for warm days and great access to lakes to swim. Easy access...hardly anyone out there today so we felt like we had the place all to ourselves.

Great moderate hike for a family. Azalea lake was wonderful to jump into! Flora lake was fairly crowded with camp kids the day we went. NOTE: Turn off is not well marked! There was a rock cairn when we went but don't count on it being there. Keep an eye on your app.

Did this hike today but left from Donner Pass Eastbound rest area rather than Boreal (I'd stick with Boreal next time). Took a while to find PCT. There is still a fair amount of snow in shaded areas. Luckily I picked up a walking stick! PCT is a little tricky to follow because of aforementioned snow. Otherwise this a beautiful hike. No one else on the trail today. Wear bug repellent! Oh, and it's Azalea Lake, not Azaleal...;)

Really fun portion of the PCT with unique views of the granite playground that is Donner Summit.
Lakes, snow melt, streams, ice plants, mushrooms and a lot of beautiful rocks to play on.
Great day hike whether you going highway to highway or just hitting Flora lake and back.
