The Autumn Ridge Trail combined with the Sunrise Trail makes a relatively easy loop with excellent views. The Autumn Ridge Trail cuts through grassland surrounded by ridges. The landscape and flora are very typical of areas inland from the Santa Monica Mountains with grassland interrupted by the occasional oak or cluster of oaks. It is a contrast to the higher elevations on the loop that allow for extensive vistas to the mountains in both directions. The combination makes for a very enjoyable hike.

Went out with my son on a Boy Scout hike with full packs at 9am. The temperature rose quickly and there was not a lot of shade on the trail. There was only one reckless mountain biker. But otherwise the trail was quiet and only locals were out doing their daily loops. It is really a great view and just enough ascent and descent to get a solid workout.

There's a portion of this loop on the Sunrise Trail that had a fire back in November 2015. It's shortly after turning off the Autumn Ridge Trail taking the loop clockwise. It has a very nice flowering of blue dicks this year. It may turn into a nice patch of wildflowers as other fire followers start to take root. It's worth keeping an eye on.
