This is the second time I’ve been on this trail, the last was years ago back in 2015. Definitely a lot hotter in the summer but lots of good memories.

Bring bug spray and spf if you plan on getting out of your car for the little trails here. The auto drive is nice and pretty, we saw a jackrabbit and a couple birds, not too many but enough to merit the short drive. Also not crowded with people which is a big plus.

Nature trips

This isn't really a trail since you aren't allowed to walk it, but it is a pretty cool little side trip. We enjoyed seeing the tule elk, but it would be a good idea to bring binoculars because only a couple of them were close enough to the fences to where we could get a good view of them. If you go, make sure you take the bird auto tour as well. We saw a ton of deer along the bird auto tour route. We also saw an otter in one of the canals.

Honestly the prettiest section of the whole park I only wish you were able to walk it instead of drive but it is what it is.

First to Review

There were lots of quail and cottontail rabbits. This would be beautiful in the winter or spring when there are ducks and geese everywhere.
