I'm not sure I've ever given a drive 5 stars, but this is worth it. A couple of places to stop and take in the colorful mountains. The road itself is pretty interesting (at one point one of the "dips" was so steep my car's camera alert system got upset with me). Take your time and take it all in - I was lucky there was a slow vehicle in front of me . . . forced me to fight my urge to just GO. Instead i took it slow and experienced a variety of terrain and geology up close.

Pretty drive! The first pull off isn't the most interesting, but it has some pretty colors. The artists pull off was really pretty at sunset. You could see the blue pretty well.

This drive, in my opinion, is worth your time. There are a couple of overlooks where you can get incredible pics of the pastel-colored mountains. The one-way road itself is kinda cool with curvy, hilly & narrow sections. Occasionally in the spring there are several areas of beautiful wildflowers blooms.

Oh my! If there is one part of Death Valley that I would recommend to anyone, it is this drive! It so beautiful, there are many turnouts to grab some pictures and the area was sublime! I went in January so it wasn’t blisteringly hot and it was just amazing!

Definitely small cars only. This road is small and has sharp turns. Beautiful stops along the way. I recommend stopping at all of them. This will take up an hour or two at Death Valley. For pictures and information about this trail and many more follow me on Instagram @naturenatephotography

OHV/Off-road drivingGreat!

Did this December 12, 2020 It’s great seeing the different color hues in the hills and mountains along the drive. I got cell reception (ATT) within a short distance of entering the one-way road and only at that location. There is only one paved pull out shortly after entering. It’s narrow in some sections and some steep declines/inclines.

It's a beautiful scenic drive with a number of stops that have short trails to overlooks. I see reviews that suggest it may be over hyped so if you are from California, you may drive by mountains like these on the way to the grocery store but I'm from Missouri so it is pretty spectacular in my book. As some might say in Missouri... "I've been to a tractor pull, two county fairs, and a hog callin' contest and I ain't never seen nothin' like this!" Make sure you do the pullouts and take the short trails to the overlooks.

The first pullout is okay, but if in a hurry, I'd recommend skipping it and heading to the second pullout, which is the Artist's Palette. The best time to get there is about 30 minutes before sunset. The sun will no longer be shining on the rocks, but you will still have plenty of light to get a great photo. Said photo will be free of harsh shadows, and the colors will be much more vibrant and even than when the sun is high.

I feel others’ reviews are a bit exaggerated in their description of this drive. For example, I can’t imagine spending an hour or two on this stretch of road! It was fine and on the way, so I have no regrets about doing it. However, it was a bit of a letdown after all the hype.

Ran this from North to South (safer with the one-way cars). It's also close to that desolation canyon trail. Anyhow, most people will probably drive anyway. Nice views.

Didn’t regret going but not a must see. Would not prioritize if you have limited time in the park.
