Popular trail with amazing views. Lots of off leash big dogs.

Fun easy walk with beautiful views of the ocean. Dogs can be off leash in most of the park. Then we headed down on a trail to the beach. Turn left and it’s a dog beach-off leash and you can walk for miles. Few people once past first .5. A winner!

Beautiful views of the ocean, nice place to take a walk or jog in the morning

Beautiful cliff views, easy walk, but not for people easily frightened or knocked down by dogs - most dogs are off-leash. To increase cardio intensity, go down and back up the steep beach access trail on the North/Mountain side of the property. If you keep walking at the bottom you can reach public bathrooms, the Boathouse Restaurant, and the Pacific Ocean where there’s yet another off-leash area for dogs.

Love this area! It's a great little loop to bring your dog on to play and explore. I do get a little sketched out when dogs go to the edge, since it's a cliff and I've seen a dog get stuck on the cliff. Just be aware of that piece! We typically start at the bottom, parking at Arroyo Burro lot and make our way up. It's a gorgeous, fairly quiet, heavily wooded trail.

An almost daily of mine. It really is a dog park that some people without dogs go to...

Nice ocean views. Easy to navigate. Appears to be very popular and well used. The trail is sandy and/or hard pack. The doggo off-leash space is not enclosed like many other off leash dog runs.

Douglas Family Preserve has 4 access points. If you are driving there, from what I could tell, the most available parking is probably at Arroyo Burro Beach unless Hendry's is packed, in which case head for one of the other 3 neighborhood entrances. From Arroyo Burro Beach the main trail is a 1.5 mile closed loop. Once you go up the hill from the parking lot, the park trails are relatively wide and flat with minimal obstacles. There are a lot of paths crisscrossing the preserve.
Nice spot. Probably a fantastic place to catch a sunset.

it's a nature walk along the ocean with beautiful ocean views. it's a dirt road and many dog companions on the trail. many different trails paths, but it's a closed system, don't worry. the main entrance is in a neighborhood. I used Google maps to get there.

Very peaceful, flat terrain. Not as many dogs as I anticipated but the ones encountered were very friendly as were their owners! Great view photo op of Hendrys. Decided to loop around and take a few different paths (some concrete) on the return and ended up at a different entrance! But it was well worth it, I navigated through some back alleys of the Mesa neighborhoods and loved it. All in all, great family walk, definitely not a hike though.

Very easy, not really a hike at all, more like a walk. Great ocean view over the bluffs, and plenty of shade for most of the trail. People do well cleaning up after themselves too, it's always looks nice here.

wow what an amazing place. I am extremely out of shape and had a blast walking this trail. thank you Douglas family! everyone was so nice. there is not a bathroom near so I suggest using one before you hit the trail.

Nice for families to walk along the coastline. Handicap accessible. We pushed our disabled daughter in her chair along it without difficulty. Great view.

It's not a hike - rather a nice place to take your dogs off leash. Solid views of course.

Super easy, family friendly hike. Great for my young kids (3 and 5).

This isn't a hike unless you start by Hendrys, even so it's kind of just a walk in a circle. Good off leash area, great in the spring time when things are blooming.

Nice open loop with panoramic ocean views. Right above the beach, and Henry's Boathouse.

Beware this is a off leash dog friendly trail! If you have small children and they are afraid of dogs this may not be the best trail to do. The views are amazing and it is a very family friendly hike.

Nice shortish trail. Starts with climb, levels off, then down again. Good for families and runners as well as single hikers. Very pretty views along bluff. You can see the ocean and get nice views of the Arroyo Burro Park below.

More of a stroll, but it's nice that they were to able to preserve a natural portion of the Mesa. Lots of dogs.

Great views! Very dog friendly, but spacious enough. It's a short trail.

Good trail, but its starting to become too traveled. Dogs are tearing it up a little bit, but its a good spot to view the ocean.

Really, really torn up now that it's considered a dog park. Dogs weren't even allowed when it was the Wilcox Property. Each time I go, there seem to be more trails crossing the various areas and the main trails have widened. Of course, the ocean is still there and can't be spoiled. Often there are dolphins playing in the waves.
