Armstrong Grove State Preserve The Pioneer Trail in Armstrong Grove is an excellent example of a typical Old Growth Redwood Forest. This grove was one of the last examples of this type of forest in Sonoma County and set aside in the 1870s by the far sighted lumberman who both cut and appreciated these trees for what they were. This walk is a self guided interpretive walk in old growth redwoods with outstanding examples of plant life within an old growth grove. Much of this trail appears to be ADA compliant and a segment of this route has been designed for sight impaired visitors. There is a guide rope along one side of the (Discovery) trail leading to a series of Braille Information placards.

every trail connects to each other in loops. flat walk bring water on hot days bring a camera such awesome sights some of the tallest trees I've seen

Dogs are only allowed on paved roads but not dirt trails. Regardless, great covered hike for people and pups alike. Clean restrooms at trailhead with ample parking in lot or along road.

One of my favorite places ever, just walk around and admire the giant redwood trees. Afterwards go to Stumptown brewery for some beers. What else can you ask for?

Great with little kiddos or folks with mobility limitations. My mom had a knee replacement not too long ago and this was perfect.

Compared to other redwood parks (Montgomery Woods, Humboldt Redwoods, Redwoods NP) it was okay. I did go when it was sunny and I think redwoods are best in the rain.
