Well groomed wide trails with beautiful views. Very little shade on a hot day.

This is The Route to run. Park and start out of the Los Gatos High school. It's a long climb up Penn to Overlook, Sheldon then to the Gate. Bear right at Montevina split and up to Bohlman , bear left 2x and your at the top for a great view. You can do an OAB or head down Montevina, mostly road to Lex reservoir, then bear left back to the high school. I prefer the OAB.

HikingGreat!No shade

Lots of views along the way, not very many people. Not a lot of shade, so go early or be prepared to be in the sun. There is no real vista point as such, but overall a good workout, lots of ups and downs along the trail. Trail was dry and can be a little slippery. Be aware: The drive is a little steep and winding, and parking is very limited roadside likely only 1-2 cars.

Wide trail; lots of wildlife; little shade; gorgeous 360 views of the surrounding mountains and valleys; saw about a dozen people on the trail between 6:30 - 9 am on a Saturday. Bring big spray! Overall great trail!

Decent hike. More like a quick exercise. Lots of mountain bikers and the views are okay.

Hiking

Not very interesting, also not “Hard” but “Moderate” difficulty. Haze in the valley and down 17 so views not as spectacular. Having a view of our trail looking down was interesting and had a sense of accomplishment. Few parking spots across from house by trail entry. But too hard to get there to be worth it for me to try again.

Used this route in reverse from Sheldon Road entrance and combined it with the Lexington Vista Trail. Skipped the steep exposed section to Montevina. Made it more pleasant with the uphill at the start. No parking on Sheldon so need to find a spot on Overlook or below.

Great view the whole way. Challenging but do-able. Lots of small slipped rocks to walk on. Very secluded and lightly trafficked. Minimal shade here and there. No where to stop and rest. Bring lots of water!

Start at the top of Montevina Rd . Great views of Lexington and the Coastal range early on.Kind of a reverse hike where you start at the top and go to the bottom.
