Although you can drive into the lake itself, this small out-and-back hike will give you more reason to relax in the cool water of Angora Lake once you arrive. $8 parking fee

it was nice. not as pretty as the other trails around the area but very nice. would classify it as a walk more than a hike :) steeper for the first portion

We were camping nearby and decided to make a day trip at Angora Lakes. We were the 2nd car in the parking lot and by the time we left 3:30 pm it was full and people waiting. The walk/trail in was scenic and a good incline. It would be hard in the heat but lots of folks with young children were doing it. Arriving at the larger lake is so breathtaking, bring a blanket or chairs and try their lemonade. Dogs can be on the beach but not permitted in the water. Just around the cabins is an off leash area where the dogs can access the lake and you can continue exploring and hiking. I spent a good amount of time there. You can rent boats for a small fee; the kids had a blast out on the lake. It was a gem of a place but not a real hike and more of a destination/nature walk. It was worth the $8 parking fee. Finding it was challenging as we thought we were lost but continued past the Lookout and eventually found the parking lot. Worth the trip and it won't disappoint.

This leads to the most gorgeous lake ever! There is cliff diving and rock jumps! Variety of height levels for different levels of daredevils. There’s an alternative hike that is longer if you want to avoid paying $8 for parking. Get there early if you want parking near by. This by far is the most gorgeous lake I’ve been too. Pictures don’t do it justice.

More of a walk than a hike. Parking is $8 but totally worth it since the lake is a a gem. We paddleboarded for $24 an hour which was more expensive than some places but very worth it...even though it was raining. Wish we would have brought our beach chairs.

Beautiful trail. A bit more steep than expected, we had to take a break in the middle. But the views of the lakes are worth it. Even saw some families with younger kids on the trail. We went Wed morning and it was not crowded. We drove through Angora Ridge Road to get to the parking lot, but looking at the map I recommend just hiking at Angora lake trail off Fallen Leaf to get there instead. The road was bumpy and narrow at most parts, at at some point you end up driving along the edge of a very high mountain. It is also a 2 way road so you may run into cars going the opposite direction.

We have hiked this trail from the parking lot in the past. There is now a trail that parallels the entire road called the Angora Ridge Trail. The Ridge trail is 3 miles to the parking lot for the Lakes trail. Nice views. Currently covered in snow from the Angora Fire Lookout to the lakes so we didn't get all the way to the lakes.

Beautiful lake and an easy uphill hike. The lake rents paddle boards and boats. Great place to cool off and swim.

This was an absolute blast. Short easy hike for the little kids and enjoyable water. My 5 year old cousin had absolutely no problem with this trail and it was a great little trip for the family from out of town. Added bonus, on the other side of the lake there was some cliff jumps for the older kids and adults. Extremely fun day out for the family.

I took my family to spend the day at the lake. My 3 and 5 year olds hiked in on their own. It's a little strenuous on the way in, but I saw folks of all shapes and sizes making the trek. The short hike is well worth it when you get to the end... and remember, it's downhill on the way back! Like another poster suggested, you should make a day out of this. Bring a lunch. Wear your swimsuit. Bring a few bucks, in case you want to rent a kayak, row boat, or SUP ($22/hr). Bring exact change for parking (now, $8). Getting a parking permit is self-service. The El Dorado County Sheriff was in the lot when we came back to our car, so they do check. On the upside, you know your car is secure. Read what other posters have written on here and Yelp. They are pretty accurate in their assessments. Note: It says in the above description that you can drive to the lake. This is not correct. They have reserved parking spots in the same parking lot you park in for people staying at the small resort. The resort will truck in the luggage...not you.

Easy uphill walk in. Takes about 30 min with a little kid. We packed in our paddle boards and got to the upper lake and it was awesome. Make a day out of it not just a hike in.

This is a uphill climb to start. Its very short as the distance suggest. The scenery is outstanding. The drive here is also beautiful. We did this in the evening and saw lots of people walking back with towels.

Beautiful, easy hike! My 5 and 8 year old girls LOVED jumping into the lake and my 13 year old son and his friends did a lot of cliff jumping despite the warnings of injury! They started on the tallest cliff, which is about 60-70 ft and worked their way to the more popular smaller cliffs! It can be very dangerous, so be careful, research the areas, ask around for advice and NEVER dive! The Lemonade is a fantastic treat

An easy beautiful hike with a wonderful lake swim and don't forget to try their awesome homemade lemonade!

We could not find the angora ridge road, missed the left turn off Tahoe mount road / Dundee road. Drove to the end till fallen leaf road and turned left at the fallen leaf road. Very little signage. Drove a few miles along the beautiful quite fallen leaf road without realizing it till the end to the parking lot near lake lily. There is a beautiful waterfall on glen alpine creek and plenty of parking. After self registering at the ranger info station (unmanned) we set out looking for the angora lakes trail head. We took the rather strenuous and steep but beautiful trail up to the angora lakes trail. Totally unplanned but an awesome challenge. Human traffic almost none. We met only 3 or 4 hikers in this trail compared to the noisy hordes of visitors (not hikers) on the upper angora lakes trail itself. Great experience, this part of the trail from the fallen leaf lake fire station to the upper angora lakes trail is not for small children. Steep Rocky climb. But a fantastic moderate and short climb for serious hikers.

Trail to beautiful Angora Lake (and its resort) leads from the 2nd parking area. ($7 day use fee.) Short trail to Angora Ridge overlooking Fallen Leaf Lake and Lake Tahoe begins between the 1st and 2nd parking lots.

Beautiful little lake with a small summer resort sitting right next to it.

It's a wonderful trail to take the kids. We went with my 4 and 2 years old and it was great. We got to the second lake and had a popsicle. We rented a row boat for $20/hour. We loved it.

Super easy hike. We have two kids--8 and 4. They both did great on the way in (on the way up)...sandy path with giant boulders to climb on either side...extremely well maintained---four wheel drive cars can (and did--we saw one) make it easily. Our son (4) cried the whole way back...didn't want to leave the beautiful alpine lake with "world famous lemonade", boats and more, to come back to the car.

This trail is good and hard if you take it from behind the fire station at fallen leaf lake, otherwise you can cheat and drive up to these beautiful lakes that had the feel of a college frat party or a public swimming pool. Great place if you wanna take the kids, drive up and BBQ in a beautiful setting.

Really wonderful hike! It's about 0.75 miles each way. Hike takes you to 2 lakes, the second of which is Angora Lake. Angora Lake is actually a resort that is run by a really sweet and awesome family. Angora Lake is really great for kids because there are no motorized boats, leaving the water pretty calm. There are kayaks, SUP boards, etc available for rent. There is also food/drinks available for purchase on the lake. Great place to spend a day, especially when the weather is nice. NOTE: the hike to get to the lake is uphill, but we saw children of all ages doing the hike. And trust me when I say that if I made the hike, then anyone can make it!
