HikingGreat!

I hiked this counterclockwise, and because the soggy factor increased when I reached Ridge Tail, I decided to cut out Ridge Trail entirely. Still, this hike is STUNNING. The fern-covered trees, the redwoods, the Newt Crossings =D, the views! I loved the steep climb up Mendigo trail and can't wait to come back to this area for more hikes. I also really loved the drive to the lot -- a beautiful adventure in itself. I arrived at 10 am on the Saturday after Christmas--which was also quite wet--and was only the second car. No traffic was heard along the road closest to Ancient Oaks trail at that time. When I left, the lot had several cards in it and was filing up quickly. It's a small lot. One outhouse is available. There are plenty of signs along the route, though you should always take a map with you! (I use my downloadable Alltrails map). Do walk out to the vista point of Audrey's Way before you leave! And I recommend you do it last. Even with the beautiful views from the trail, this spot is the most gorgeous of them all and the path is accessible.

Great workout. I started counter-clockwise so I could travel along the busy highway for the first part of the hike. The views of the skyline and pacific do not disappoint. Outstanding views.

Access: ~25 minutes from I-280 Page Mill Rd exit. Plenty of parking around mid-day on a holiday. Trail: About half of it is shady. Some parts are quite narrow. The last 0.5mi back to the parking lot was quite strenuous. Overall a very pleasant hike. Vista: Amazing view of both the Pacific Ocean and the Bay.

Beautiful hike. Good mixture of shaded oak groves and exposed hillsides with sweeping vistas. Enough up and down to feel I got a workout, but not too challenging. The trail was blissfully quiet, with the exception of some foot and bike traffic near Borel Hill.

Almost half the trail was dirt fire roads or double track. Much better hikes out there.

My favourite hike in the SF area so far. Perfect length, mix of different views/terrain, and a bit of a steep challenge to finish it off. We did it in the early Summer.

I highly recommend this trail! Despite foggy conditions blocking any ridgeline views, I enjoyed the shifting terrain and environment. I skipped the connector route joining the loop together, and instead tackled it in one counter clockwise loop. With the fog and wind, it actually got quite chilly, so I was glad I brought a light jacket. Overall, a super fun (if easy) hike!

Loved this hike. I went counter clockwise. I liked the ups and downs. A good mix of shade and open grounds. I went at pretty much high noon, so it was hot. During covid there’s parking and bathrooms. Not too many people. Saw a lot of bikers. It took about 3 hours for 7 miles.

Great trail, the name says it all. Steep at parts of the trail. Ancient Oak trail is well shaded. Going to Mindego Summit, well exposed and is windy. Did the summit first then looped back from Ancient Oak. Have to stop at the Audrey Rust site. Amazing view. Will be back to watch the sunset.

Easy trail, about 7 miles round trip. Started with Ancient oaks trail with a loop through ridge trail. The last quart mile loop is a steep hike, great way to finish the hike.

Aside from the last climb, a pretty easy trail. The first half of my trek was clear and the views of rolling grassy hills were fantastic. Good for hiking and mountain bikes.
