Our dog got two ticks! Make sure to check your pets and yourself after. Other than that it was a good hike. Nice shade and didn’t see to many people.

Good elevation gain, seams like it’s more elevation gain than listed. Average trail with a stream and a couple small waterfalls. Lots of patches of various wild flowers.

Stunning, but the trail is NOT well marked. There are lots of auxiliary trails that make the loop difficult to follow, download the map for sure. the end of the loop is a doozy.

Great solo hike with not another soul in sight. Cool temperature, scattered wild turkeys, and excellent workout with over 1500 ft elevation gain. I combined an out and back with the dead truck loop coming back to american river canyon trail.

Absolutely beautiful hike! Found a waterfall along the way, plenty of creeks and streams. A good balance of exercise vs scenery. The last mile is the most challenging. Small parking lot was full (3 cars) so we parked on the street, no problem.

Great 5-mile trail. Very peaceful and beautiful. Trails a little tricky if you do not have map layer downloaded on phone. The last 2-2.5 miles is all uphill so save energy for that burn.

By far one of the most beautiful hikes I have been on! Trail was on the easy side of moderate. Trail wasn’t as hard to follow as as some had said as long as you have you map!

This is really beautiful area and a great hike. The salamanders are super cute and the water is flowing. The trail is not super well marked and there are several connecting trails so it is easy to get a little lost. I prepared for ticks and none jumped up on me.

Lots of water and fun creek crossings. Beautiful, lush greenery. We took a detour down to the American River. Super fun trail

Fun trail for a "quick" hike. did a different route of this years ago, but I'm definitely in worst shape since then as I do not recall that last stretch back to the car being that exhausting. Other than that was great! lots of variations, different scenery, beautiful creeks to cross; even one with quite a few little salamanders. have fun and reserve some energy for that last steady uphill!

Rad trail. There were a ton of ticks. We spent the rest of the day picking them off the dogs. We were going to give a star per tick... seriously, over 20 at this point. But, the trail was very nice, few people and even fewer masks.

Incredibly green and lush at the moment! The almost 2 miles down and then 2 miles back up are absolutely worth it. There are 4 water crossings so be prepared. Some rocks to use to cross but I will say the water is almost knee high in some areas with a semi-decent current as of today. Trail is single track after you cross the river the first time. We only saw 3 other people on the trail near the end but we did start pretty early on a Sunday AM; the whole road was parked full when we got back. Now until end of April is when I would say this trail is best until. Not worth it in my opinion without the water.

Awesome trail! Super lush and green right now, easy to get to the trailhead (just be wary bc there’s not a lot of parking). Also I wouldn’t recommend taking your furry friend without some good flea/tick preventative. Our dog Picked up about 4 ticks off this trail, pretty nasty ones. But other than that what a great place!

A great hike!! Not too much uphill, if that’s not really your thing. Because of the rain, it’s very lush and green. Definitely longer than the app states. Saw lots of cool fungi. There was only 3 parking spots at the trailhead we were at, so be wary of that.

Very pretty hike with lots of waterfall and creeks to pass through. If you own trekking poles, this would be a great hike to use them. Alittle longer then AT states and a bit challenging when taking the Dead Truck trail. Overall enjoyable

This trail is absolutely magical! It felt like we were in fern gully, so much beautiful moss and ferns everywhere. I loved all the creek crossings, and there was an offshoot from the main trail that takes you down to a beautiful pool. We’re going to come back in the summer and cross our fingers it’s still there. The dogs had tons of ticks, we were finding them on the trail as well as back at the car and another sneaky one once I was back home. So make sure you check them really well. We’ll be back for sure!
