I consider this an easy trails but for my 2 years old is moderate however we went super slow and it was a fun hike. We got there very early in the morning. The hikers and dogs are nice. Minus one star for the dogs poop on the path ways and some people left the poop in a bag along the side ways. Unacceptable! There is no poop fairy!

Great trail but the Mine Hill Trail is not a loop. It is a trail and if you keep following it, it makes for a 14-15 mile out and back trail. To loop, please refer to the map to pick another trail that loops and joins the Mine Hill Trail.

Went clockwise, majority of trail was single lane. Amazing views of the valley.

Started off counterclockwise then decided to go left at the second fork to return to the initial trail following Guadalupe. We missed the left turn for this loop and continued for about 15 min before realizing it and backtracked. We continued on the loop until we arrived at a vista point with a picnic table waiting for us! That’s when we took our break for lunch. It was already 5+ miles by then. We continued on the trail and realized that this downward trail was what some hikers referred to when they said it should be rated moderate to difficult. It was rocky and slippery in some areas, as well as steep. Good thing at this junction was that there were many trees, offering lots of shade on a hot day. Today was a great, breezy day. All in all a great workout, 11 miles total.

I would do this hike earlier in the day. Great hike to bring your dog. Some steep hill at the beginning. Nice shaded area towards the end.

It starts from a residential area, you can park your car anywhere in the street. There were a lot of families with kids starting the trail, but normally pick shorter trails since it’s easier for them. It’s a long beautiful dry loop and if you take it easy it takes around 3.5 hours. It gets even prettier on the way back when you hit prospect trail #3. The path gets narrow and very green. Lots of lizards, and saw a tiny snake.

I took this 16 mile trail in early April. It was carpeted with wild flowers, very nice and well kept trails, mostly easy but steep in some places and excellent for cardio. Some stretches near to trail heads were obviously more crowded. Overall difficulty was moderate.

New Almaden Trail is pretty dry after the rains. Flowers: coastal toothwort, coast manroot (wild cucumber). Much mud on fire roads out of McAbee.

Great rainy day hike with lots of great waterfalls coming off mountain. Nice views high up above reservoir!

Take Senador tr. to Guadeloupe tr. to Mine Hill trail. At Prospect trail the fun begins. This is a classic downhill single track through some of the prettiest oak forest around. Gentle grade and switchbacks make it easy on old knees. In .8 mi it joins New Almaden Tr. This is a gorgeous single track through some of the best old oak forest I’ve seen. It also has very gentle grades as it traverses across the hills. Few people also. Must do.

Definitely moderate. I took a few wrong turns and made it 10.1 miles. The Prospect trail is a fun single track trail where you feel like your out in the wild

Seemingly endless combinations of hike-able units... I’m biased but not sure there is a better mix of loop options for 2-5+ hikes.

Love this trail. Views of Almaden Valley are breathtaking. Is challenging without being overwhelming.

Nice hiking. Bring a lot of water when hot. Probably mud and slippery when wet weather.
