Albany Bulb is a 1.9 mile heavily trafficked loop trail located near Albany, California that features beautiful wild flowers and is good for all skill levels. The trail offers a number of activity options and is accessible year-round. Dogs are also able to use this trail.
This trail should be attempted only at low tide or with the expectation of getting wet.
Beautiful mellow walk, part of this route is through some really rough broken concrete chunks. So if your pup is small or has delicate paws like mine, then be careful. Going clockwise, many of the concrete blocks are covered in art. Then past that there is a bunch of installation art. On a Sunday afternoon the parking lot was packed, but luckily got a spot.
The castle was built without structural engineering, and could cave in more at any second. Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, and watch out for metal sticking out concrete. The castle has some so watch out. Some trails can be dangerous because of the landscape. Don't feel bad if you feel like you can't take every trail. The beach is dog friendly, and windy. Very friendly atmosphere.
I love this little hike at low tide when the path along the water is available. It reminds me of the levels in Mario Brothers where the water goes up and down. The park used to be a dump and has a lot of art and sculptures made from waste. A bit of a Burning Man vibe. I go at least once a week. :)
I couldn’t walk around the Delta because it was too wet otherwise perfect trail for sunsets. If you go for a sunset make sure to go counter clockwise and get there at least an hour before.
Trails are Super wide and easy to navigate even at night (little to no lighting) great views of bay, bridges, and city. Bring a sweater and a sweetheart!
Easy trail w stunning views from the bay. I decided to go around the loop on the rock formation, the tide was a little high but the water felt refreshing ( not cold al all), I wish I was wearing proper hiking shoes or sandals, my sneakers were not a good idea because of the green algal bloom.
A fantastic find! A quirky little area that’s a good place for a walk. It can get pretty windy on the side facing the Bay. Much of the path is mainly rocks. It’s hard to pass the little path between the water areas when the tide is high. My feet definitely got wet and it’d be easy to slip on a submerged rock. Definitely would recommend!
Very windy and dusty. Fun to explore and find art sculptures and graffiti
Great little walk, glad we wore sturdy hiking boots to walk over the rocks along the jetty
Exploring the art in Albany Bulb was fun for one day trip since i live not too far from Oakland City. It is dogs friendly, and popular spot to exploring.( so it’s not enough parking space). A lot of great graffiti artists, wildflowers , pretty cool urban art towards to the end. It has manny miles of hiking trails. ( I hiked a little over 2 miles). Hiking along with Albany Beach very peaceful, I can able to see Bay Bridge, San Francisco Bay, Golden Gate Bridge, and much much more. I left a lot of footprints at the trail, and took home a lot of pictures. I will comeback when I’m in Berkeley.
