A short walk down to Abbotts Lagoon. This is a great place to go to a quiet beach if you aren't against having to hike a little bit for it. Along the way there are lots of flowers, wildlife, and nice view points of the lagoon.

Did this hike yesterday (April 15) and many of the wildflowers were blooming everywhere. Very easy hike past the lagoons out to the ocean with spectacular views down the coast.

We pulled up to the parking lot with our two dogs in the car and were sad to see signs indicating dogs are not allowed on this trail. If you drive down the road a few more minutes, however, you'll come to the trailhead to a trail out to Kehoe Beach, which is dog friendly.

We went on an overcast day and the green rolling hills looked like Scotland. Easy, light walk, wonderful scenery, and only takes a little over an hour.

Wonderful in the fall. It's a very easy walk from the trail-head to the beach, which is covered in beautiful dunes.
Birds all along the walk. While it looks a bit desolate, it's really a great experience. During the walk you focus on various marsh birds (saw White Pelican in the lagoon).
At the ocean you can then explore the coastal wildlife.

I think fall is the best time to go because the air is very clear and the light is good. Most importantly the winds are not so fierce. In summer/spring the winds are generally stronger.

Would not advise on high wind days unless you really layer up.
