This is a challenging road to Donnel Lake. It is down almost 1,000 feet in the first 2.5 miles,. The last 4 or 5 miles, before the lake, gets fairly rocky in spots, thus challenging, but the rest of the road is in fairly good shape. There is a locked gate at the trailhead so vehicles do not enter the road. The dam at Donnell Lake is impressive.

6-16-17 I went to go on this trail and it was closed. I spoke with the Forest Service Rangers and they said it may or may not open this year. A lot of the roads in the area were destroyed or damaged do to the heavy winter. I am remaining hopeful that it will open back up and I can go on it. I will re-rate it after that. The 1 star is for the winter damage not the trail.

Great place to go offroading! Drove up to 4,700 Foot Road and just found trails and drove around. If you look at the map for this location you can see Beardsley lake off to the left. There is so much off roading to be done around that lake and the 4,700 Foot Road it was really quite easy driving. Some drops at different places but other than that it was a great drive with lots of fun easy trails to just get lost in.
