Tons of early morning spider webs and its a bummer you have to go on road for part of it.

The map was of little use and the diamonds on the trail were sketchy at best. We never found the waterfall, but we did see a lot of trash. Next time I will take a trash bag with me to clean up as I go.

HikingGreat!

Good lake loop trail. It is an easy hike. As people are saying, you have to hike side of the road on part of it and you cut through the national park grounds but it’s shut down due to covid so it was empty.

Good trail, it was a little overgrown and confusing as far as which way to go because almost every fork has the same blue diamond. You do have to walk on the road twice so that kinda sucked but staying close to the lake gave a decent breeze. my advice is to make sure you use the app map.

Loved everything about it except at some point we got off track I am assuming, at 2 different points we had to walk along Highway 16, it had ample shoulder so it wasn’t a huge deal. We had a nice surprise about 1 mile or less on the Eastern side of an incredible waterfall. We took our dogs and they loved it!! Highly recommend!

Great easy trail. It is not marked well so keep your phone handy. You do finish up walking on HWY 16 but there is plenty of room to walk away from the road. There are some great spots to take a dip if you come prepared to do so. The waterfall is about a mile in and a nice little area. We tracked 4 miles on our hike with it taking about an hour and 45 minutes.

Although not very well marked, all the side trails lead back to the main trail so you can just explore and enjoy it. I just went on a little hike by myself and didn’t want to walk along the road, so I went in about a mile where the waterfall is. I set up my hammock and had lunch. It’s an easy little trail without much to trip you up, so I’d recommend this trail if you’re bringing kids.

The rec area was closed on Saturday morning. The trail is poorly marked. As most of the reviewers mentioned, part of the trail is on the road. With cars zooming past at 50+mph, we decided to turn back. Would not recommend, will not return!

Overall great trail- the lake is beautiful & within sight most of the time. I went with a couple friends but felt safe enough to have gone by myself! Pretty waterfall about halfway- only complaint that other reviews mention is that the trail ends & you have to walk along the road for a bit??? Which isn’t the safest with the road being so windy. STILL- glad we tried this trail out!

Waterfall was beautiful!! Trail was not marked well in some parts and if not for this app we would not have known to get on the road.

We got kind of lost, the trail suddenly ends and you are left at a camp ground, we walked ALL THE WAY back lol only to find out if you kept going out the camp site to the main road (which is dangerous) people were walking along it to get back to the parking lots. Other than that it was beautiful and pretty easy. We did see several snakes so watch out!

Easy trail, goes along the lake so you can’t get lost. Cool waterfall off the dam. Only 1 tick, otherwise clean trail. Water is very clear. Rec area was closed.

Beautiful hike. Not very well marked, however. Though it shows it as being a loop, you end up on some random road and have to find a path from a parking lot to get to the campground path, and then you have to walk on the side of the highway.

Trail isn’t really marked. We went the wrong way. Made it the whole loop just backwards. Went off trail a couple times. Thank goodness I have this app or I’d be very lost. Multiple trails along this trail. Have to walk along the side of the road in the very beginning. Other than that a very pretty walk. Even saw a deer!

Easy trail with really only one section that had a short climb but nothing difficult. There is a side trail to the gazebo overlook that I thought was worth it. It would be nice if the added a sign at the rec area indicating where the trail was (it's behind the bathrooms). Wasn't excited about having to walk along the road once you get to the southwest corner. There wasn't all that much to see after that point as most of it is either along the road or right in the rec area/campgrounds so might be better to turn around an retrace your steps.

Not really a loop. It wasn’t marked very well. Meandered through Rec area and finally found trail again. Don’t like walking on the roadside either.

BlowdownOff trail

This trail does offer some really nice views around Lake Wedington. There are lots of downed trees and trails are not very well marked. Most disappointing today was the amount of dog poop! It was everywhere! Watch where you walk on this one, folks - there seems to be a lot of inconsiderate dogs out there, leaving nasty surprises. You'd think their human companions would be a little more aware of where these deposits are being made.
